The Calming of the Storm

(Mark 4:35-41)
We all have journey in our life. It could be spiritual journey, or material, or
vain/trivial. We also have this
physical journey. Moving from
one place to another, open up a
new chapter in our life. We can
take this journey as human
level and spiritual level.
When the Lord stepped
into the ship with His disciples,
all was quiet. There was no
storm. The sea was calm and
still. But soon after they were
on the sea, the sky became
dark and a great storm arose,
so that the little ship was
swamped with waves and
seemed ready to sink.
Prior from this, Jesus talked about faith right after Jesus finished the
teaching about faith He entered into the ship of His Church, then it will not be
long before there is threatening weather. Once we want to be a Christian and a
follower of Jesus Christ, we must step with Him into this same ship. As soon as
we are with the Lord in the ship, then the wind and storm will surely begin. There
is a teaching here. Once we follow Christ and submit ourselves to Him, the storm
of life is waiting.
Who are those disciples who accompany with Jesus? Jesus 1 st 4 disciples
were Peter and his brother Andrew, John and his brother James and the rest. They
were fishermen. Not just the fishermen but an experienced men of the sea. They
have nautical expertise, they know when is the good weather for fishing, if
theres a storm or windy. But they failed to predict the weather. So the storm
came. As human, they did everything. They used their skills, their expertise,
experience and their knowledge but everything has limitation. Our knowledge is
limited, our capacity and ability is limited. So the boat was filling with water and
these experienced men of the sea were afraid for their lives. To the extent that
there nautical expertise had reached to its end. This is not the only storm the
disciples faced theres another storm of their life in John 6:65-69.
There is cause and effect here. The cause is the disciples lack of faith and
the effect is that theyve become afraid. why are you afraid , you of little faith?
They forgot that Jesus is with them.

This is what I said o my wife when she complained about the house. They
believe that theres something paranormal activity in that house..

It would seem that it was here that the disciples truly

began
to grasp the lesson. If one is in fear of the storm, how much more should they
fear the one to whom the storm must submit. Let us learn from the disciples
lesson. When God said why are you afraid you of little faith? we have to thank
God for our little faith, this little faith will bring us back to God, this little faith
keep us following Christ, This little faith finds peace in the midst of the storm,
when the storm of our life comes this little faith say Lord to whom shall we go?
