Advantage of Unity
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be with those youre comfortable with. It
becomes a problem only when a group of people become so exclusive that they begin to
reject everyone who isnt just like them. Unity is keys and that its essential to get
everyone on a team moving in the right direction. Unity is very important to every type
of team because when a team comes together they can succeed together. However, its
rare, though, because bringing people together is difficult due to personal agendas, egos,
politics, power struggles and negativity. Despite the difficulties, it is possible to achieve
unity, and some teams have leveraged it for their success. Unity happens when leaders are
committed to and engaged in the process of building a united, winning team. In the
world, where cut-throat competition and increasingly higher standards are becoming a
way of life, achieving excellence and success is not easy. Although achieving success has
never been an easy task, these are the times when dreams of success seem far more
unrealistic or difficult that what they actually are. However, unity makes us much more
effective and strength. There are several advantages to forming the unity.
Unity is the state of many acting as one. It is an attribute of highly effective teams,
whether in marriage, business, church, or government. Without it, progress stops. Thats
why creating it and preserving it is so important. Its one of the most fundamental
functions of leadership, but too often leaders are unclear in their understanding of unity.
For example, I was recently speaking to an old man who is working in one of the
opposition party. He was extolling virtues of his leadership team. He remarked I am
really blessed with unity in my team. However, still few of their party members who
disagree and disappointed with his version and strategy. They were simply afraid to speak
up. Why? Because, the pastor had a history of shutting down debate and emotionally
punishing anyone who resisted his leadership. If youre going to be effective as a leader,
it is important for you to be able to discern the difference. There are actually three level
of unity: acceptant, agreement and alignment. By the way you should know your
teammates can be aligned without being in agreement. Great teamwork is like a great
piece of music. All the voice and instruments may be singing and playing at once, but
they are not competing.
Unity is strength. It is said that United we stand, divided we fall. Man is free but
still he has to depend on others. One man cannot produce everything. He produces one
thing and thousands of people produce other things for him. A teacher does teaching
work. But who produce food and clothes for him? It is an age of unity and co-operation.
One cannot live without the help of others. Therefore, all men must work together. If they
do not, every members of the society will become weak and poor. So, unity gives strength
to every members of the society. No home can be strong, happy and peaceful without

unity. What will happen if everybody goes his own way? The family will break into
pieces. They wont help each other in need. A house cannot face an enemy. A brother will
cut the neck of his own brother. How horrible it results will be! So, unity makes us
strength though we are living as one society, one community and one family.
A society, too, cannot do without unity. Man is a social animal. He help others, and
other help him in turn. He has to depend upon his friend and neighbors. If theyre united,
the society will be strong. But when they unite, they form a strong army. You cannot
break a bundle of sticks, but how easily you can break them one by one!
The principle of unity is strength is the primary basis of peace and happiness of
a society and the nation. For example, at first, a man makes their own families live
separately. The peace and happiness of a family would depend on the unity of the
members of the family. Observance of the principle of Unity is Strength required every
member to stand by the other in time of real need. This would require some sacrifice
which would affect their personal interest and this loss of interest resulted in constant
clash and quarrel among themselves. So a number of families in small groups failed to
protect themselves against more powerful groups. So they united themselves and a nation
was built for greater security. A weak nation began to be tortured by the stronger one. So
nation began to unite themselves for their safety and security.
