SUBJECT: Mannheim Medical Associates Business Proposal

My time working in clinic with the employees of Mannheim Medical Associates, and interacting
with the patients, has provided me with a better understanding of the purpose and values of
the organization. Originally founded by Dr. Paul Concepcin in 1994, Mannheim Medical
Associates was bought by Dr. Myriam Otero in 2003 and has since grown into a multipurpose
clinic that is dedicated to providing excellent healthcare to its patients. Mannheim Medical
Associates is a medical clinic specialized in family medicine that provides healthcare services to
patients of all ages, offering guidance and specialized services. Although the clinic focuses in
Family Medicine, other specialized services from the fields of Rheumatology, Cardiology,
Maternal care and Nutrition are offered. The leading source of revenue of the organization
comes from healthcare insurance and private fee for service payments from the patients.
The versatility of healthcare services and personal connections established with patients
ensures that the highest quality medical care. Mannheim Medical Associates dedication to
establishing a personal connection with their patients is what puts them ahead of other local
healthcare providers such as Couret Medical/Urgent Care and Patel Medical Esthetics.
Mannheim Medical Associates is located in an underprivileged town, so as an act of compassion
for patients, the clinic offers a free additional service of counseling teenagers during their
consultations to help deal with the challenges of living in poverty. Mannheim Medical
Associates has a commitment to not only the health, but also the well-being of the patient,
something that the other healthcare providers do not value. With one lead physician and a
clinic manager, accompanied by two physicians assistants, three medical assistants, three
receptionists, and two billing correspondents, Mannheim Medical Associates has the workforce
to attend to all of the needs of the patients and fulfill their mission of providing the highest
quality healthcare.
Mannheim Medical Associates has various job positions, each assigned with specific
responsibilities, so building team chemistry can be difficult. Due to the separation of
responsibility, the clinic can lack the communication and team morale required for a thriving
business. Thus, it is important that the employees of Mannheim Medical Associates establish a
collaborative environment, so that the efficiency of the clinic can be maximized. Team building
is a very important component of a team setting like the one found in Mannheim Medical
Associates because sometimes a certain positons responsibility may need to expand due to, for

example, being understaffed or over booked with patients. Something to consider for a
successful business is that highly productive teams also work in a collaborative atmosphere,
one where there is a balance between meetings and group time and individual work time
(Smith 13). While still moderately productive, the current status of the office is a more
individualized environment. In an effort to increase team chemistry, Mannheim Medical
Associates should require monthly team meetings or team building exercises. This will improve
communication between coworkers and will increase the efficiency of the work being done in
clinic. More subtly, it will make for a more enjoyable work environment where everyone talks
to one another.
In a medical setting, familiarity with the healthcare software is essential to a successful
business. Some of the employees are required to use eClinicalWorks software, but have no
experiencing using it, and thus, errors are made and there is a lack of efficiency. It is important
that all of the employees are caught up with the latest electronical patient filing system
software. The physician uses eClinicalWorks patient software to view the patients medical
record which includes things such as medical history, personal information and current
prescriptions. Experienced entrepreneurs indicated that training was useful to improving their
skills, efficiency, effectiveness and their level of knowledge: subsequently affecting their overall
performance on the job (bin Atan 47). Mannheim Medical Associates should require each
employee to take a training workshop on eClinicalWorks software to ensure that everyone
knows how to use the software. This will improve the efficiency of the business and the
production of each individual employee.
Mannheim Medical Associates accomplishes its mission of providing healthcare to patients in a
high quality and caring manner. This is accomplished by appropriately conditioning the
employees to produce excellent work. Through their efficient work Mannheim Medical
Associates remains the top healthcare provider in its area, and continues to grow as a business
every year.
