Kootenay has waived the holding of a Public Hearing in relation to
proposed Bylaw No. 2431, 2016, an amendment to the Regional

and adoption of Bylaw No. 2431, 2016 at its regular meeting

Purpose of Bylaw No. 2431, 2016: The Regional District of Central
Kootenay has proposed a suite of administrative text amendments to
the Regional District of Central Kootenay Zoning Bylaw No. 1675,
2004 to ensure that it remains current and consistent with more
recent bylaws that relate to land use planning. The proposed bylaw
amendments are generally housekeeping in nature and are not
intended to materially change the intent of Bylaw 1675. These
changes include:
x Corrections to inconsistent and outdated definitions and
terminology, typographical errors, cross-referencing errors,
formatting errors and references to repealed Legislation and
bylaws; and
x The removal of references specific to Electoral Areas A, B and
C from the zoning bylaw, which have their own separate
Comprehensive Land Use Bylaws; and
x The addition of explanatory notes to provide further clarity to
residents and businesses on matters contained within Bylaw
1675.

RoboGames sponsors gathered in Castlegar in advance

of the 4th Annual RoboGames, held on Saturday, February 20 at Selkirk Colleges 10th Street Campus in Nelson.
A Kootenay Association for Science and Technology/
GLOWS/Nelson Tech Club initiative, RoboGames has
doubled in size over last years event with 40 plus teams
made up of over 70 students from Nelson, Castlegar,
Rossland, Trail, Krestova and New Denver. Participants
compete in a number of robot challenges including robot
soccer, an obstacle course, a special trick competition and
robot battles.
With hands-on robotics training provided by Nelson

(GEM) Program
The Nelson and District Womens Centre is offering a

new program for girls aged 10 to 13. Through a series of
six workshops, girls will explore themes related to friends,
growing bodies, changing feelings, self-expression and
personal power. Girls will engage in art, games and discussion, supported by women in the community who will
come to share their knowledge and fun activities. The
series culminates in a sharing of the girls experiences
with their families on the final day.

For Muscular Dystrophy
The count is in and on December 19, the Nelson Fire

neuromuscular disorders!

For Souls. Our name
has changed to Shoe
Bank Canada and
we are now a Canadian charity, with
our goal of assisting people in need, first in our community, then Canada and around the world.
For the shoe drive this spring, we are in search of an
operating and sorting space for the month of April. A
garage, a warehouse, a basement or any vacant location
with lighting, air and a door that is accessible to a delivery
truck that will pick up our boxes of footwear.
We are also in need of a year-round storage space for
incoming footwear, once our spring shoe drive is over.
We collect donations and deliver them off and on yearround to the Transition House, Womens Centre, Kids
Sports, Cicada Place and Kootenay Kids. We will also be
supporting the Committee on Homelessness on Connect
Day, with winter boots.
If you could suggest a possible space that might work
for either or both of these needs, please contact Jackie
