INTRODUCTION TO WORD
PROCESSING
INTRODUCTION:
Word Processing means processing on
words or toprepare by helping software in
word processor, a document, make
changes and additions in it, do formatting
in it and print according to need.
The term word processing was coined in
IBM company in the year 1960.
thereafter, in1970 Microsoft WordStar
was invented and soon it became most
used and prevalent word processing
software.
Word Processor is software used in
application software to perform the task
of word processing.
FEATURES OF WORD PROCESSOR
Word Processor gives all the facilities of
typing such as letters, documents,articles
and soon.
The writtings in severals documents can
be brought together.
In the written documents pictures,
figures,maps or graphs can be added.
OFFICE-SUITE
Word suite is a cluster of word-process,
database-management, presentation,
detailed reports and other such uses.
There are also other office suites
available through mediumof internet,such
as GNOME office, NEO office, Soft
Maker offfice and Star Office.
STARTING WORD PROCESSOR
Generally Writer program can be started
in two ways:
1. If there is Open office .org Word
Processor Icon on the desktop by doouble
clicking on it
2. By choosing Applications-- office-Open Office.org Word Processor.
