INTRODUCTION
The training is as important to BSS Engineers as a manual of any product is to a
lay person. The only difference is that before everything discussed will make
valuable meaning, it requires familiarity with telecommunication know-how.
The training was focused on Flexi EDGE BTS, its units, installation and
commissioning.
The instructor by the name of Michael Maher delivered the message well and
clearly. He is a trained Nokia-Siemens instructor from NSN Academy.
I participated in almost 95% of the training and everything done was of great
benefit.
CONTENT
The topics discussed in the training are as listed below:
Flexi EDGE BTS Introduction and Units
Flexi EDGE BTS Installation Planning
Flexi EDGE BTS Module Installation and Cabling
Flexi EDGE BTS Configurations
Flexi EDGE BTS Commissioning and Integration
Flexi EDGE BTS Licensed Features and Software Compatibility

DISCUSSION
Please refer to the course materials that are attached with this report.
CONCLUSION
Operation and maintenance of network element (especially Nokia BTS which
we handle) is made easier if and only if we know how the equipment works.
Although the focus of the training was not on maintenance per se, the
knowledge gained on how each unit works and how a site is planned &

integrated is a solid base for maintenance as well as upgrading the site when
needed.

RECOMMENDATION
Base on the experience I gained through this training, I recommend the
following:
1. That the courseware/training materials be distributed to all BSS
Engineers in the various clusters to study and hone their skills.
2. Periodical training for the field operatives should be encouraged on (and
not limited to) the following: Transmission, Power, Team-build and
Management.

I sincerely appreciate the effort of the management to invest on the skills of her
staff so as to ensure excellent outputs from them.
