The planning team met several times in the past few months and spent many hours in
prayer, preparation and planning. We would like to thank all of these folks who gave of
their time to help us develop the youth conferences. Let these folks know that you appre-
ciate the great conference they planned for you!

Dylan McKeeman has been leading worship at churches,
retreats and conferences for the last 10 years. He is cur-
rently the Contemporary Worship Director at the Back
Creek ARP Church in Charlotte, NC. He brings to the wor-
ship experience an eclectic mix of modern worship
songs, traditional hymns and spirituals that not only lift
high the Lord Jesus Christ but connect the human story
with the redemptive story. Joining Dylan will be Micheal
Weller, Lucas Hulett, Daniel Russell and Jonathan Wise-
man.

Mark is Associate Dean and Associate Pro-

nary. Prior to joining the Erskine faculty in
2004 he served for twenty years as Associate
Pastor for Teaching at the First Presbyterian
Church of Columbia, SC. Mark earned a Ph.D
from the University of Keele, England.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
• After we receive your church’s registration form, you will receive one copy of the “Trip
Leader Handbook” by mail. Please read it carefully and photocopy for all leaders who
will be attending with your group.
• Please make sure you have Medical and Liability Release forms for CEM for all partici-
pants and that they have been signed. Keep a copy in your possession where it is acces-
sible in case of emergency while you are traveling to and from the event and during the
event. Turn in the original upon arrival at event to Christian Education Ministries.
• Please review and support our stance on dress code and items that are inappropriate to
bring to a Christian Education Ministries function. Please discuss these with your youth
prior to arrival.
• If staff and leaders would be interested in childcare for ages birth through 5 years of
age, please call or e-mail our office to let us know so we may determine if there is
enough interest to offer this service. Information should include number and ages of
children.

STUDENT CHECKLIST
WHAT TO BRING:
Modest clothes appropriate for a week at camp in the mountains. (See Dress Code below).
Sleeping bag or sheets, pillow, towels and washcloth. (Bonclarken does not provide these items).
Toiletries: Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.
Bible and pen. (Students will be provided with a handbook).
One set of old clothes for the sludge war on Friday.
Extra pair of old, lace-up shoes (not open-toed).

If you plan to…


Go caving: Bring long pants, tennis shoes or boots, long-sleeved shirt and a flashlight. (If you hike-
you will get dirty).
Play paintball: Long pants, extra layers of clothing and lace up shoes. (Do not bring your own paint-
ball gun—equipment is provided by Bonclarken).
Climb lower/ropes course: Lace up shoes are a requirement.
Tie dye for crafts: All items should be 100% cotton.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

Skateboards, Water guns/water balloons
Alcohol
Cell phones are not to be used during scheduled activities.

DRESS CODE:
In order to promote respect for ourselves and for the opposite sex, clear guidelines with regards to dress
have been established for summer conferences. Please review these guidelines as you prepare for the
conference and pack accordingly.
1. Shirts should touch the waistline of shorts/pants/skirts and should cover the stomach and back. Fur-
thermore, shorts should not be tight or low cut. There should be no exposure of cleavage or under-
garments (this includes boxer shorts).
2. Bathing suits must be discreet.
3. Clothing should not display sexually suggestive or offensive pictures or words.
4. Just remember that modesty is the key! Respect the conference staff’s decisions concerning the ap-
propriateness of your attire.

STUDENT CONFERENCE WORK CREW APPLICATION
(For interested College Age Students)

Dear Work Crew Applicant,

Thank you for applying to be a part of this year’s Work Crew for the Horizon and Quest conferences.
The Work Crew is an essential part of the conference and helps the director, speakers, worship leaders,
and program staff to reach out to hundreds of Middle and High school youth. Your duties will include
setting up and cleaning up for camp activities, helping to lead small groups, assisting with recreational
activities, reaching out to Middle and High school youth, and providing an example for all campers.
Work Crew members should have completed High School, with preference given to those who have com-
pleted their Freshman year of college.

The dates for Horizon, the High School conference, are: June 14-19, 2010.
The dates for Quest, the Middle School conference, are: June 21-26, 2010.

The Work Crew is expected to report on Friday, June 11 at 6:00 p.m. for Horizon and on Sunday,
June 20 at 3:00 p.m. for Quest.
