PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
INVISTA S.a.r.l. 2013 Present
Research and Development, Heterogeneous Catalysis Group
Oversee and manage daily lab operations in performing various heterogeneous catalysis experiments
including purchasing equipment and supplies, upgrading, maintaining, and troubleshooting any problems
with lab equipment. Work with Principle Investigator in managing the analysis of samples from all areas of
production line in order to troubleshoot production problems and ensure quality standards are met.
Collaborates with Chemical Hygiene Officer to ensure safety when dealing with hazardous materials
including flammable and carcinogenic substances.
Selected Achievements:
Conducted critical experiments and analysis to assist in identifying alternative suppliers for
materials vital to production. Results of analysis presented to senior leaders provided key data
used to determine which suppliers could serve as substitute in the event of supply shortages with
current supplier.
Conducted over 750 experiments in the lab to investigate plant issues and processes in an effort to
eliminate potential process hazards, expedite production, reduce costs, and monitor trends for
improvement. Data from these experiments have been used to fine-tune production procedures
that ensure the smooth operation of the plant.
ASHLAND, INC. 1997 2013
Process and Product Development, Engineering Research Laboratory
Managed Laboratory responsible for testing and performing quality control on all products going through
production. Supported a R&D group that included a professional engineer, chemical engineers, and a
statistician. Performed daily lab and inventory control duties including bench scale / plant process safety
experiments, ensuring the functioning and calibration of six machines, and profiling and disposing of lab
waste. Reported experiment outcomes and data to group members in the US and internationally.

Selected Achievements:
Successfully developed a system for more effectively managing queue of items requiring analysis
to ensure timely and effective workflow, and ensure production expectations were met.

Participated in project to determine whether a commercial reactor had sufficient cooling capacity to
handle an exothermic reaction and whether an emergency vent had sufficient capacity to relieve
pressure from a chemical reactor in the event of a loss of temperature control without
compromising the equipments mechanical integrity.
Played a critical role in establishing a safety process and procedure for the manufacturing plant by
performing calorimetry of various specialized polymer resin syntheses prior to p plant scale-up.

Partnered with statistical on the multiple Design of Experiments (DOEs) to confirm ARRST
accuracy and reliability and to calculate a statistically acceptable amount of variables of charged
catalysts making it through the line in order to test cell reactants in explosive and dangerous
experiments.

Earned two Performance Awards, three Awards of Excellence, and three Awards of Recognition.

ICI ACRYLICS 1993 1997

Quality Control Lab
Provided quality control of acrylic pellets. Determined the yellowness index, heat deflection temperature,
and vicat softening point of acrylics. Performed purity tests of polymer and monomer acrylics. Utilized gas
chromatography to determine residual monomer. Approved incoming monomer and outgoing pellets using
statistical process control (SPC).
