HOLISTIC APPROACH OF HYPONIDD IN MANAGING PCOS
Natural treatments are also often called holistic medicine because they aim to treat the person as a Whole, the
mind, body and the spirit.
Hyponidd, being the Ayurvedic medicine claims to treat the patient on the whole balancing the body internally,
physically as well as mentally. How Hyponidd manages the disease holistically can be seen as under:
Herbalism:
As the name suggests, Herbalists use herbs and medicinal plants to treat a patient, seeking to treat the underlying
cause of any disease or illness with an aim to also prevent further disease and help the body to heal itself. Herbal
medicine is safe and effective when prescribed by a fully qualified herbal practitioner. Hyponidd is purely herbal and
is made up of the following herbs:
Hyponidd contains the following herbs and minerals:
Momordica Charantia (bitter Melom extract), Melia Azadirachta (Lilac tree), Pterocarpus Marsupium (Kino),
Tinospora Cordifolia (Guduchi), Gymnema Sylvestre (Meshashringi), Enicostemma Littorale (Mamejavo), Emblica
Officinalis (Amalaki), Eugenia Jambolana (Raja jambo), Cassia Auriculata (Tarwar), Curcuma Longa (Haridra) and
Neem. All these herbs and minerals help the medicine to treat the patient in a more healthy and effective manner
without any side effects. Thus, Hyponidd cures the patient naturally.
Nutrition:
Since Hyponidd is a medicine which is made up of herbs and minerals it is strongly suggested that the patient
should take nutritious diet so as to help the medicine to wok effectively. A patient should concentrate on good
nutrition first and foremost to cure the disease. PCOS patient should ensure her diet is comprised of good quality
protein such as meat, fish, poultry, nuts, seeds, eggs and cheeses. Good vegetarian protein sources are corn, dairy,
nuts, seeds and a small amount of beans and the less fermented soy product. The diet should also include good
quality fats such as cold pressed oils. It is imperative that trans fatty acids and hydrogenated fats be avoided since
they raise cholesterol and are carcinogenic. Finally, the right amount of carbohydrates according to activity level,
health, insulin status and weight should be consumed in the form of vegetables, whole grains and a small amount
of fruit. Refined carbohydrates, white flour, sugar and caffeine should be greatly reduced and if possible eliminated
from the diet.
Exercise:
There is abundant evidence that exercise improves the bodys use of insulin. Those with PCOS should try to
concentrate on resistance rather than cardiovascular exercise. This is because resistance exercises like weight
training, swimming, yoga, pilates builds muscle and thus increases the bodys insulin sensitivity. This is exactly
what is required by the PCOS patients taking hyponidd. Even a simple walk most nights may be of help. Exercises
such as yoga are particularly recommended because they relieve stress and work the muscles as well as targeting
health problems. This will enable the patient to feel good and stay happy.

PCOS AYURVEDIC VIEW
POLYCYSTIC OVARIAN SYNDROME (PCOS) is a condition characterized by an imbalance of hormones in women which
can affect menstrual periods and ovulation. It is also one of the leading causes of infertility. Because of these
distressing symptoms, women may also experience feelings of depression and anxiety.
PCOS affects about one in ten women of childbearing age. It is a very common problem amongst young women and
teenage girls, sometimes even affecting girls as young as 11 years of age. If not treated early, serious health
complications such as Diabetes and Cardiovascular disease can develop.
According to Ayurveda PCOS is a disorder involving Pitta, Kapha, Medas (fat), Ambhuvahasrotas (channels for water
circulation), and Arthava Dhatu.
PCOS has following symptoms:
Mild pain on ovulation, downy hair growth
Weight gain
Irregular appetite
Constipation
Mild acne
affects more than just the reproductive system. In its full presentation, a host of systems can be affected. While
there is no known cure, PCOS can be managed with medications and lifestyle changes, most notably that of dietary
modification and physical fitness.
Symptoms of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS):
Infertility
Hirutism
Acne
Nutritional Considerations in PCOS - Careful food selection is a very important aspect of PCOS care. Some women
with PCOS find success by reducing their total intake of carbohydrates (cereals, breads, pastas) and choosing to eat
different types of carbohydrates that are less processed (whole wheat, brown rice, beans). Replacing refined
carbohydrate products (white bread, white pasta, cakes, cookies) with whole grains, fruits and vegetables may help
to reduce insulin response. You should also eat enough protein to help manage blood sugar levels.
Fitness Considerations in PCOS - According to many studies, women with PCOS can improve their insulin resistance
just with moderate activity. Even if you exercise and dont lose weight, you are still reaping very important health
benefits. Exercise has been shown to improve use of insulin and can support dietary interventions to promote
weight loss; it is important that the exercise program chosen is enjoyable.
