Produce Market Report February 9, 2016

GOOD BUYS FOR THE WEEK

Oranges: Still a great

bargain with steady
volumes from California.
A great addition to
salads, desserts and
tarts.

Grapefruit: Beautiful
fruit coming from Florida
and Texas. Prices are
steady.

Blueberries: Now out

of Central Mexico and
Chile. These berries are
looking plump and
tasting perfect!

Avocados: Even with

the heavy Super Bowl
demand from last week,
the prices did not
escalate and the fruit is
still looking very good.

Lemons: Fruit is now

out of California and the
appearance is good. El
Nino will affect the sizing
and availability of this
fruit.

Costa Rica has improved,
and thus the quality and
prices are much better.
Honeydew melons are
slightly improved as well,
but not as favorable as the
cantaloupes.

Oranges

Clementines:
Currently at peak season
and coming from Spain,
this fruit is pristine. It is a
dream to peel and pricing
is excellent.

crowns: Broccoli is
available at very low prices
for this time of year and the
quality is excellent.

Cauliflower: With plenty

of product available, pricing
has declined. However, this
situation will not last. Cold
weather has slowed
harvest and numbers will
be back to normal next
week.

Green Leaf, Red Leaf,

Iceberg, Boston and
Romaine: The lettuce
market has slowed down
due to lower demand,
lowering prices. We expect
demand to pick back up
this next week. Blistering
and epidural peel is still
affecting romaine, which we
expect to continue.

Cucumbers: We have
switched to Honduras and
the quality is very nice.

Zucchini: Prices dropped

significantly from last week.
