Call for Applications for financial support to attend the Pri-Sci-Net Second

International Training Course on


Inquiry-based learning with lower-primary level students

PRI-SCI-NET is inviting teachers, teacher-trainers and other persons responsible for promoting primary-science
to apply for financial support to attend the PRI-SCI-NET 2nd international training course to be held between the
1st July 2013and 5th July 2013 in Crete, Greece.
PRI-SCI-NET is an EU funded project under the Supporting and Coordinating Action (Call SiS-2010-2.2.1.1)
on innovative methods in science education: teacher training on inquiry based teaching methods on a large scale
in Europe. The project is coordinated by the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) and has 17
partners from 14 countries. This international training course offered by the project provides an opportunity for
primary school teachers and teacher-trainers to engage with inquiry based learning and acquire new experience
of how to best integrate IBSE in the classroom for the better communication, teaching and understanding of
science.
Applications should be submitted via email to coordinator@prisci.net. On the project website detailed
information regarding the content of the course, accommodation and travel can be found.
The deadline for application is 30th April 2013. Late applications will not be considered.
APPLICATION AND DEADLINE

Those selected for financial support will have their travel and accommodation covered by the project. There
is no cost for participation in the training. The course is open to all teachers and teacher trainers in primary
science schools and universities in Europe.

PRI-SCI-NET can only fund the travel and accommodation of a limited number of teachers and/or teachertrainers. Applicants will thus be ranked on a number of criteria as indicated further on. Those selected will
be informed about the procedures for reimbursement.

Those who are not funded will only need to fund their travel and accommodation.

Those selected may be asked to share a twin room with another individual of the same gender.

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for Financial Support:


Applicants need to fulfill the following as much as possible:

Be a classroom teacher or teacher-trainer in a primary school/university or other pre-service or in-service


teacher-training institution in the EU, preferably with a particular interest in early years;

Demonstrate strong motivation to promote inquiry-based learning in primary science (in the early years);

Preferably be in a position to support or train other primary teachers in science; and

Ability to provide opportunities for multiplier effect to promote inquiry-based learning in science with
primary level teachers.

Applications will be evaluated on the following criteria

Curriculum Vitea

10%

Work Experience in the area of primary science (early years)

30%

Level of motivation written statement in Application form

25%

Capacity of a multiplier effect with other teachers

30%

Fluency in the English Language (in application)

5%
