Introduction

In an any operator network, the operation and maintenance (O&M)

personnel need to communicate with the various network nodes and
elements;
the ease and complexity of O&M tasks is related to the used communication
channel The majority of Ericsson nodes are built on AXE platforms and the
Common language used for communication with them is:
Man-Machine Language Commands (MML Commands)
MML is a script language. Responses from the system for the issued
Commands are handled and presented in the form of printouts in graphical
interface

MML Commands in OSS
The MML commands are available within four applications in OSS:
1. Command Handling (CHA)
-user send MML commands and to receive printouts from different NEs
- Immediate and delayed responses are possible- Command files can be
saved and reloaded for later use
2. OPS (Operation Procedure Support)
- List of Commands are grouped in Script- Tasks can be scheduled
3. CNA (Cellular Network Administration)
- CNA jobs are translated into a list of commands
4. WinFIOL (under windows) or WinFIOL/U (under Unix)
- Send individual or multiple commands- tasks can be Schedule

MML Command Structure
In general, commands are structured in the following way
Command Code: Parameter Part;
The Command code and the parameter part are always separated by a
Colon(:)
and ends with a semi-colon(;).
Examples:
RLDEP:CELL=09618C;
Command Code:
Command code consist of five characters in the form
XXYYZ
,where:
XX:
specifies the function group to which the Command applies
YY:
specifies the specific function concerned
Z:

indicates the action to be taken

XX
:
specifies the function group to which the Command applies
Examples:
1- (XX) = (PL):Processor Load functions ThePLCDP command belongs to this
group and it printsProcessor Load control parameters
2- (XX) = ( AL): Alarm functions
The ALLIP command belongs to this group and it prints the AlarmList 3- (XX)
= (RX):Radio controlX-ceiver function TheRXCDP command belongs to this
group and it prints MO configuration data
4- (XX) = (RL):Radio control cell function
TheRLDEP command belongs to this group and it prints cell description
data5- (XX) = (SA):Size Alteration function The SAAEP command belongs to
this group and it prints file size information
YY
:
specifies the specific function concerned. Here below are some specific
functionswith examples:(YY)CF

ConfigurationFrequency
(YY)MS

Managed objectStatus
(YY) AC

AdaptiveConfiguration (YY)SC

Subscriber Class function (YY)RT

RoutineTest function (YY)ES

End of Selection function Examples:1- The RLCFP command belongs to

theConfigurationFrequency category and it prints Cell Configuration
Frequency data
2- The RXMSP command prints theStatus information for one or moreManaged
objects
3-TheRLACPcommand belongs to this category and it prints the parameters
used tocontrol the function AdaptiveConfiguration of logical channels

For each function group there is a list of specific functions available in BSC
AlexLibrary. Here in figure below is an example of the RL function group
specific functions

Other Useful Commands
Alarm prints
There many alarm commands and the four most common ones will be listed
below:1- RXMFP: This command initiates printing of fault information for one
or more managed object instances2- RXASP: This command initiates printing
of all alarm situations currently outstanding in one or more managed object
instances
3- RXMSP: This command prints the status information for one or more
managed objects
4- ALLIP; This command prints the entire alarm list or a part of the alarm list
NB: The output of the majority of these alarm commands will be given as
code and here below is the fault code description document Exercise: print
the alarms of the site 25206

Transmission prints Related Commands:
Here below are four useful MML related transmission commands.1- STDEP:
The command orders the printout DEVICE STATE DETAILS, which shows
states for telephony devices.2- DTSTP: This command initiates a printout of
the state for the specified DIP3- DTQUP: This command generates a printout
containing the quality situation for the specified Digital Paths (DIP).4- DTDIP:
This command prints the name of the DIPs and the corresponding entities
connected to this digital path
Exercise:
check the following site dips25206, 25208,
5. Conclusion:
The list of the majority of MML commands required by radio Engineer are
grouped in the file below
It is important to keep in mind that not all the commands are available within
this list
but it always better to refer to Alex, where you can find any MML command
related information
