Troubleshoot of remote control system and
Flow of the basic operation on maneuvering device
1. Preface
Whenever the troubles for the remote control system have occurred the cause of
trouble to be checked by suitable process not to be checked at random.
This service information is made based on the trouble which have been reported in
the past from many delivered ships.
Please note that this instructions are not covered with all type of remote control
system.
2. Trouble condition pattern;
2-1) Starting failure
Pattern 1) Normal firing, engine speed goes down to stop
Pattern 2) Crankshaft moves, but no firing
Pattern 3) No crankshaft move
Pattern 4) Starting air goes on each cylinder, cant cut starting air
2-2) Unable to reverse
2-3) Takes long time to raise up engine speed

Pattern 1 starting failure


2-1-1) Starting failure
Normal firing, engine
speed goes down to stop

Max. Fuel limiter handle is set on 0 pos.

Instantly, engine speed raises


up and goes down to stop

3. Flow of the basic operating maneuvering device
3-1.) Preparation before starting the engine
a) Lever pos. of turning device is OFF pos.
b) Handle pos. of auto shut off valve for starting air is AUTO pos.
c) Dont operate push button for manual shut down unit
d) Select switch of auto starting for auxiliary blower is AUTO pos.

Check / confirm as follows


a) Carry out drain off on control air / starting air line
b) Oil level is normal of GOV., turbocharger and L.O. lubricator
c) Pressure of control air / starting air are normal
d) Pressure of fuel oil / cooling water are normal
e) Pressure of main bearing / crosshead bearing L.O. are normal
f) Pressure of air spring for exhaust valve is normal

Set the fuel lever (3.12) to REMOTE pos.

GOV. normal condition

Release the fuel lever (3.12) to REMOTE pos.

GOV. abnormal condition

Set the fuel lever (3.12) to REMOTE pos.

Push the confirmation


button (266HA) or take
over ON at control
