OBJECTIVE

In this course, using the direct seeding method, we aim to learn how to
plant crops, we aim to learn how to take care of them while they develop, we
aim to be good cultivators and we aim to produce healthy crops.

INTRODUCTION
Agriculture is the art, science and business of cultivating the land,
raising crops, livestock, poultry and farming. Within the studies of
Agriculture, crop production is somewhere in it. In fact, when others hear the
word agriculture what they always visualize are gardens, farms and crops.
When we try to raise crops, we all need to have technical-know-hows.
We need to know the methods to plant and raise crops. There are a lot of
methods to choose from; direct seeding or transplanting. In a tropical
country like the Philippines, it is best advised to use direct seeding because
of our rich land.
Direct seeding is directly planting the seeds on the ground or the crop
area. Direct seeded crops require less labor and tend to mature faster than
transplanted crops. In this method, plants are not subjected to stresses such
as being pulled from the soil and re-establishing fine rootlets. However, they
have more competition from weeds. Depending on the land preparation
method used, direct seeding can be done in two ways: dry and wet direct
seeding.
Every planting method is helpful; their use depends on different
situations and because of different factors. As long as, you know how to take
care of your plant then maybe someday somehow you can be a good
cultivator.

CONCLUSION
Some plants are suitable to be transplanted but others are not, they
prefer to be seeded directly. Phaseolus lunatus or lima bean is one of the
plants which prefer direct seeding.
Some of the large seeded limas are heat-loving, perennial vines,
usually grown as annuals. Small seeded limas are heat loving, annual vines.
Varieties are available that will produce in many climatic regions. Limas can
usually be grown where long season pole beans are successful. Lima beans
are usually direct seeded, covering the seeds .5-1 deep, depending on the
seed size. The seeds germinate at temperatures ranging from 75-90 F with
germination usually occurring in 5-10 days. Plant in full sun in thoroughly
warmed soil, thinning the plants to 4-6 apart.
The lima beans were raised with adequate sources and now it is almost
ready to bear beans and be harvested.
