CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY

Research Design
The quantitative research was primarily an explanatory research. It was used to gain a
considerate of an underlying reasons, opinions and motivations. It provided insights into the
problem or helps to cultivate ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research. Qualitative
researchers aimed to gather an in-depth understanding of human behavior and the reasons that
administrate such behavior. The qualitative investigated why and how of the following. By the
used of this scheme, the researchers deployed the study to a more persuasive; resulting to a better
understanding to a certain problem the study manages to work to. This method was evidently use
in the survey roughly peer pressure via giving each respondent a questionnaire to fill up.
Descriptive design was intended for depiction the participants in an accurate manner. The
researcher used this design through specific questions which the selected student will respond,
thus, leading this study into dynamic inquiry due to the participants remarkable respective level
subsequent to useful information on developing the study. Informational in the other hand, is the
tactic of providing useful information or knowledge. This application will be essential on the
researchers study for the analyst or maybe another researcher can gather information and
maximize the usage of it. This was tangible on every part of the research especially on Chapter II
as it is obvious that the researchers have gathered a parallel study about stress. Analytical was the
technique of relating to or the usage of logical reasoning. This design was evidently used in
Chapter IV as the researchers have used statistics that computed the gathered data from the
respondents.

Population and Sample

This research has gathered fourth year Bagong Barrio National High School students S.Y.
2014 2015 according to their basis of grade like attendance, recitation and average grade which
is affected by peer pressure. The study will be accumulating a total of 120 students. The
correspondents are picked randomly throughout the year level, section by section.
Research Instrument
The researchers used the method of Survey Questionnaires for the correspondents. The
aim of this survey is to determine the most common effects in peer pressure in the fourth year
students of Bagong Barrio National High School. The surveys were collected to be a reference
for the study. This will serve as the official Survey Questionnaire of the research.

Flow Chart/Data Gathering

Identifying the Problem

Conduct an Experiment

Analyze the results

Give Your Conclusion

The researchers limited the problem by specifying the common factors that affect stress
(student profile, attitude towards stress, academic performance and health status) due to the
alarming increase of students who got an inadequate grade because of peer pressure.
The researchers hypothesized that the main effect of peer pressure among friends is that
they have different effects affecting their academic performances.
The researcher will use the qualitative way in the form of survey. But before the survey,
the researcher will ask first the permission of the subject teacher, the head teacher, the year level
teacher and the principal of Bagong Barrio National High School. From this will come from the
data that the researcher needed to amass to give their conclusions towards the problem.
The researchers will seek the help of statistician to analyze and interpret the data. This
will give the research a suitable explanation on the problem.
By following the steps accurately, the research will provide the latest information about
the relation of stress to academic performance at Bagong Barrio National High School. This
study can help those persons who have concern about the interruption of stress to the academic
performance of the students. It would be a program/activity that will help the students to cope
with stress or another research that may continue or contrast this study.
