Bill Gates is an American business magnate. He is one of the richest people in the world. In 1975, he
co-founded Microsoft, the world's largest PC software company. During his career, Gates has held
the positions of chairman, CEO and chief software architect. He has invested in other businesses
outside Microsoft, including Corbis, a digital media company. Gates has also written several books
about business and technology.

Bill Gates married Melinda French on January 1, 1994. They have three children and live in a large
house in the side of a hill in Washington, USA. The house took 7 years to build and cost $63.2 million.

During the later stages of his career, Gates became a philanthropist. In 2000, he established the Bill &
Melinda Gates Foundation with his wife Melinda. They have given large amounts of money to different
charities and research organisations. In June 2006, Gates decided to work part-time for Microsoft in
order to do full-time work at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
