We are a cultural organization affiliated with St. Louise Parish

Church that was formed 23 years ago in 1991 to serve and inspire the
Filipino parishioners so they can fully participate in the life and mission
of the church. It is also envisioned that the ministry will be able to enlighten and promote better appreciation of Filipino culture among St.
Louise parishioners through religion.
Fil-Am provides support to the needs of St. Louise Parish as we establish communication networks with the Filipino Community within and
outside the parish. To achieve this, we aim to demonstrate leadership in
the Filipino community for all matters related to the religious and cultural
life in the parish of St. Louise; To serve as coordinating body under the
Parish Pastoral Council on matters related to all Filipino church-related
programs, activities and organizations; To promote better appreciation of
the Filipino culture; And to network with Filipinos and other ministries
within and outside the parish .
Serving the Filipino community and St. Louise parish as leaders of
the ministry from 2013-2015 are:
President Jenny Petisme
Vice President Luisa Orejana
Secretary Ina Canimo

Dear Friends in Christ,

I want to welcome you to our celebrations honoring Our Lady of Antipolo
and thank you for your prayerful participation. As pastor of St. Louise Parish I
am so grateful for the active participation of the Filipino-American ministry in
the life of our community. Your dedication to service of your church, your deep
devotion to the faith expressed in so
many ways throughout the year, and
your desire to promote Filipino customs,
traditions and values all help to make St.
Louise Parish a vibrant, active, and faith-filled community.
I extend to you my deepest gratitude for your support throughout the
year. I am proud to be your pastor and thank you for the many ways you
strengthen my faith and share with me the privilege of ministering to our
community.
As we honor our Blessed Mother under the title of Our Lady of Antipolo, may our faith be strengthened and our hearts be opened as the
Blessed Mother leads us to the love of her Son.
Be assured of my prayers for you and yours.
Easter Joy+
Fr. Tom

As a parishioner of St. Louise for more than 30 years, I was part of the
original members who organized this ministry & have served as an officer in
the past years. I am back as President of the FILAM Ministry for this term
2013-2015.
We are blessed with all the support & assistance you all have been giving
the ministry all these years and one of the highlights for me was our Christmas
party last year when we were able to financially help our kababayans in need
at the wake of typhoon Yolanda.
This years celebration of the Feast Day of Our Lady of Antipolo (Peace
& Good Voyage) allowed us to include our traditional Santacruzan. We hope
to impart this tradition to our youth who grew up here in America. PABASA is
another Filipino tradition that we brought to Bellevue last April 12th & will
continue on in 2015. FILAM Family Picnic will be on Aug. 23 & it will be
full of fun & games for both adults & children.
As Fr. Tom Belleque leave our parish, we thank him for all the memories
and his support in allowing us to continue to bring our traditions at St.Louise
Parish. We wish him well & our love as he continues his work.
In behalf of the new FILAM officers, we say to you all: Maraming Salamat Po
Sa Inyong Lahat!

-Jenny Petisme

Santacruzan
The Santacruzan is a popular religious festival held in many towns and cities
throughout the Philippines as the highlight of the month-long celebration of Flores de
Mayo during the month of May. It is usually celebrated with a parade of decorated
floats and elaborately dressed characters, representing various aspects of the Virgin
Mary and other figures. The festival was introduced to the country during the Spanish
period and continues to be celebrated by Filipinos all over the world.
According to popular legend, St. Helena, the mother of Constantine the Great,
went to Calvary 300 years after Christ's death to search for Christ's cross. At the site of
the crucifixion, she unearthed three crosses, and had her sick servant lie down on each
one. Upon touching one of the three, the servant was cured; this cross was determined
to be Christ's. The anniversary of this discovery is traditionally celebrated on May 3rd.

Blessed Fiesta!

Editha dela Cruz

In the Tagalog region, the custom of the Santacruzan celebration started sometime
after the Immaculate Conception of Mary was declared official dogma in 1854, and
after the publication circa 1867 of Mariano Sevilla's translation of the devotional Flores de Maria or Mariquit na Bulaclac na sa Pagninilaynilay sa Buong Buan nang Mayo
ay Inihahandog nang manga Devoto cay Maria Santisima (The Flowers of Mary or the
Beautiful Flowers that in the Meditations During the Whole Month of May are Offered
by Devotees to Mary the Holiest).

DAILY, DAILY SING TO MARY

Daily, daily sing to Mary
Sing,my soul, her praises due
All her feasts, her actions worship,
With the heart's devotion true.
Lost in wond'ring contemplation,
Be her Majesty confess'd.
Call her Mother, call her Virgin,
Happy Mother, Virgin blest.
She is mighty to deliver.
Call her, trust her lovingly
When the tempest rages round thee
She will calm the troubled sea.
Gifts of heaven she has given,
Noble Lady, to our race.
She, the Queen, who decks her subjects
With the light of God's own grace.

A blessed celebration
to all!

DIOS TE SALVE

Llena eres de gracia
El senor es contigo
Y bendita tu eres
Entre todas las mujeres
Y bendito es el fruto
De tu vientre,Jesus.

Salve Estrella

Ruega por nosotros
Pecadores ahora y en la hora
De nuestra muerte Amen,Jesus.

People: Gracious Lord, I give thanks for the gift of this automobile for the purpose of
conveniences, recreation and my livelihood. Help me, Lord, to use this gift thoughtfully, carefully and never while under the influence of alcohol of any chemical substance
that might impair my ability to safely drive this vehicle. Lord, give me patience and a
loving spirit, and take away from me all anger and impatience that might either put
others or myself in danger. Amen
PASTOR: Be with us now and bless us as we dedicate these cars and their use to the
living and preserving of lives to your glory and praise. Grant us faith to know your
gracious purpose in all things, give us joy in them and lead us to use all your gifts
including our cars, with wisdom, compassion, patience and love. Likewise, we ask
and other forces that might prevent us from sane and safe use of these gifts. We ask
this through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the
Holy Spirit, now and forever.
People: Amen
( All are asked to proceed to their cars and stand by them for the sprinkling of water.
The water is used as a symbol of blessings).
PASTOR: Thanks be to God.
BENEDICTION:
The Lord bless thee and keep thee; The Lord make His face to shine upon thee, and be
gracious unto thee. The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee & give thee peace.
Amen.
