A Message from the President

By Angela Davis

We are well on our

way into 2016 and the
second semester. I am
hoping
you
are
continually reminded
what an integral part
you play in the life of
each Dallas ISD student. You are inspiring
our future leaders and teachers! We want
each of our members to know we are partners
in your efforts to provide the students of
DISD the safe, positive public education
experience they deserve.
We would also like to provide you with an
update regarding the TEI Class Action
Grievance that NEA-Dallas & participants
brought against Dallas ISD, citing the
system lacked transparency and clarity. The
Level II hearing was conducted on December
8th, at which time the district requested
additional time to review all the documents
presented. NEA-Dallas & TSTA attorneys
granted the request for the extension. We
received the Level II decision from the
district on January 19th which was to deny
almost all aspects of the class action
grievance. After meeting with the TSTA
attorneys and discussing the districts
decision, we proceeded with following the
next step of filing a Level III. This hearing
is scheduled to be heard by the Dallas ISD
Board on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at
9:00 a.m. in the Dallas ISD Administration
Board Room.

results in another employee covering all or
part of the shift, will count as a missed shift for
this purpose.

JAY FREDERICK - Molina HS/Teacher

MARGARET PULLINGS - Pat Raney SC/Driver

DISD AR: Jay Frederick was

selected this month because he is
always going above and beyond
in his AR member advocacy by
becoming the link between the
member & the organization. He
continues to introduce new members to NEA-Dallas and
share with them the opportunity to be part of an organization
he believes in.
DCS AR: Margaret Pullings is
one of our ARs at the Pat Raney
Service Center. She is very active
in her organization and plays a vital
part in the relationship between her
worksite and the NEA-Dallas office. We can count on her to
keep us aware of issues going on, as well as share
successes they have experienced. She also knows how
important it is for Dallas County Schools employees to know
their rights according to policy. As a member and AR, she is
an asset to both Dallas County Schools and NEA-Dallas.
NEA-Dallas thanks you for all you do!
