Does the universe have a final purpose?

The universe exists for itself, without cause or purpose. Nothing

existed before it that could have been its cause. Nothing exists outside it
that could be the source of its purpose. Things need no purpose. We must
get out of the mental habit of looking for purpose in existing natural things.
They are simply there, for the sake of nothing but their own existence and
unfolding. Is there a purpose when pebbles are blown across the sand in a
desert? Is there a purpose when breakers slam into a rocky shore? Cause and
purpose are concepts that cannot be applied to the universe.
The truth we must get accustomed to is this: The universe embraces
all time and all space and all things that have existed or exist now or will
exist in the future. It has no before and it has no outside. Nothing existed
before it that could have been its cause. Nothing exists outside it that could
be the source or goal of its purpose or the reference point for its meaning. It
cannot conceivably have any cause or purpose. The cosmos is its own cause,
purpose and designer.
What is the meaning of life?
Depending upon whom one asks, the question, What is the meaning
of life? may be one of the most profound questions of human existence or
nothing more than a nonsensical request built on conceptual confusion,
much like, What does the color red taste like? The meaning of life is a
subjective question perhaps. The answer may vary from person to person to
aardvark to flower. How you live your life as a sentient being is perhaps more
relevant than what purpose does life itself serve. There are few guarantees
in life and to assume that any answer to any question is correct is arrogant
folly. The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing Socrates.
For me life is the most amazing thing; it is something that we take for
granted because we do not know any better. If we could understand just how
surreal the whole concept of life is - we would surely implode or just fade
away into insanity. Hold your hand up in front of your face, wiggle your
fingers - do you understand how beautiful, bizarre and amazing the whole
concept is? Take a walk outside look at anything, listen to everything, touch
something, smell the soil, taste the air - these are not things you should be
able to do - you should not exist. Life is not something that should exist; it
does not make sense, it cannot be explained rationally. Life is enjoyed in the
simplicity, the natural beauty of nature and emotion.
