Seminar library

To serve the need of academic purposes, apart from central library, there is a seminar library in
the department building which is managed by a librarian. The library keeps a large number of
books in the various fields of forestry and environment related which meet the full need of
students for different courses. Also keeps different national and international journals,
periodically updated. It also provides reading areas for students.

Tour
Tour! Who doesnt like to tour. They are fun, exciting and thrilling. But when they can be spiced
up with study they become more breathtaking. Well As a part of the course, the department of
FES provides students with exciting chance of study tour at the end of every semester except the
last one. So there are about 7 semester tours to enrich the knowledge of the students.
The tour spots cover mainly the major forest areas of Bangladesh such as Khadimnagar,
Satchari, Remakalenga, Lauoachora, Coxs bazaar, Chittagong, Bandarban, Gazipur and last but
not the least Sundarban etc. The dimensions of these tours depend upon the spots. Long tour like
Sundarban usually takes place for 5 days. In these tours students and teachers stay together and
gain all information about the condition of the forest. Also these tours are really fun!
In the last semester students have to do a management plan which happens for 15 days. In this
students learn about the management, community, benefits and problems about a certain forest.
The spots are usually Gazipur, Kaptai etc.
The tour and management plan gives the students a opportunity to know the forest practically.
Which in future helps them to be better in their field.

Sports week
Games!! This word is prominent whole of the world. Each and every people like to play games.
It can be indoor or outdoor games. Games have always given a player peace both in mentally and
physically. Actually it depends on what types of games a player playing. The moral things of
playing games are recreation and having fun.
Department of Forestry and environmental science is one of the versatile departments of SUST.
In 17 years of our journey we got so many achievements but sports are above all. We are leading
from the front in every sphere especially in the sports.

Every year FES department organized indoor and outdoor games which are controlled under the
supervision of BAFSA. Here participations are students, respectable teacher and office
employers. Indoor games are Cheese, lodu, karam, card, panja, FIFA, NFS etc. In terms of
outdoor is symbolic of FPL. Footballs, Cricket are mainly attraction of this part. Every
semester participation in both football and cricket with their best players. Indoor and outdoor
games are managed by SS (Sports sectary) and ASS (Assistant Sports sectary) of BAFSA.
Winners are being thanked by BAFSA with giving prize among them.

Freshers Reception
There is a long tradition of welcoming the new students in the department of FES. This reception
is actually divided into two parts. At first, the honorable Dean and the teachers of FES arrange a
short program in the department. On that day the Dean and the teachers deliver their amazing
speeches to motivate the freshers. They also uphold a short description about the department.
Then comes the second and the most exciting part of the reception. A cultural program is
organized under the supervision of the cultural secretary of BPFSA to welcome the freshers. The
BPFSA committee selects a floor director from the senior batches. The Floor is basically the
practice session before the cultural program which continues approximately 20 days. Generally
the participants are mostly the freshers. There are many segments in the program such as: dance,
drama, music video, fashion show, singing songs, mime and so on! The floor creates a strong
bonding among the seniors and juniors of the department.
The Freshers Reception helps a lot to eradicate the nervousness of the juniors and to enjoy the
new life in the varsity campus.
