Version 2.06 is a Windows 95/NT compatible DOS release of OFFPIPE. To install OFFPIPE on your hard disk, please do the following:
1)
Open a DOS window under Windows 95 or Windows NT, and click your mouse
in the DOS window to make it active.
2)
Place the OFFPIPE installation CD in your computer and invoke the
batch file INSTALL.BAT on the CD by entering a command like the one
given in the following examples.
To install OFFPIPE in the directory "C:\OFFPIPE" type the following in the
DOS window:
F:INSTALL F: C: <Enter>
where: F:
IPE,
<Enter> = the "Enter" or "Return" key.
To install OFFPIPE on another disk drive, substitute the appropriate
drive letter (D:, E:, etc.) for "C:" in the above example. If your CD
drive is not "F:", then substitute the correct drive letter for "F:" in
the example.
3)
To install OFFPIPE in a different subdirectory, substiture the correct directory path "C:\CORRECT\DIRECTORY\..." for the path "C:\PROGRAMS" in the
above example.
4)
To permanently remove OFFPIPE from your hard disk, simply use the DOS
command "DELTREE C:\ \OFFPIPE" (where C:\ \OFFPIPE is the path for the
OFFPIPE directory) to delete the contents of the OFFPIPE directory and all
of its subdirectories. Be sure to back up any data or output files that
you want to save before deleting the OFFPIPE directory.
Notes:
-----1)
A hardware copy protection key must be attached to your computer before
OFFPIPE can be used. This key is attached by plugging it into one of your
computer's parallel printer ports with the arrow on the key pointing toward the computer. If the arrow points away from the computer, it is
plugged incorrectly into a serial port. Plugging the key into a serial
port can permanently damage the key.
2)
This version of OFFPIPE requires approximately 8 megabytes of available
RAM memory under Windows 95/NT and approximately 12 megabytes of free space
on your hard disk. Your computer s CPU must provide hardware floating point
support (i.e. an Intel Pentium, Pro, Pentium II or equivalent chip).
OFFPIPE will not run on older computers based on the Intel 486 SX or equi-
This version of OFFPIPE will run correctly in a DOS window under Windows
The names and directory paths for the various disk files used by OFFPIPE
when it executes are defined in the ASCII file CONFIG.DAT which is found
in the OFFPIPE root directory. If you wish to change any of the default file
names or directory assignments used by OFFPIPE, you can do so by editing
the contents of this file. The file s contents are self explanatory.
6)
The file CONFIG.DAT also permits the user to define character strings
which can be used at the beginning and end of each set of printed output to
define your printer s font and page configuration. Example character
strings are provided which enable OFFPIPE s output to be printed in landscape mode, using an appropriate reduced size font, on an HP Laserjet (or
compatible laser printer) and on a Canon laser printer. The LaserJet print
string is loaded in the configuration file as the default.
