I.

Objectives
At the end of 45 minutes 75% of the 92 students will be able to:

state the types of measuring tools and instruments

identify the function of the different types of measuring tools and instruments.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Measuring Tools and Instruments.

Reference:
Title of the Book: Electrical Installation and Maintenance
Module writers: Hector M. Vallarta and Roman A. Cabusora Jr.

IV. Procedure
A. Routinary Activities
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of attendance
B. Motivation

What do you think Class on how electrical switch works?

Have you seen a different measuring tools and instrument?

What have you notice to the measuring tools and instrument?

C. Lesson Proper
Measurement is the process or the result of determining the ratio of a physical
quantity, such as length, time, temperature and etc.

Measuring tool/ instrument

Test Light is a pocket-sized tool used to test

the presence of a current in a line wire or a
circuit.

Micrometer is used to measure the diameter

of wire/ conductors in circular mills. It can
measure small and big sizes of wires and
cables

Wire Gauge- is used in determining the size

of wires/ conductors. The gauge ranges from
0 to 60 awg (American wire gauge)

Ruler/foot rule is a measuring tool used to

measure length, width, and thickness of
short flat objects and to draw straight line.

Pull-push rule is a measuring tool used to

measure

the

length

of

an

object

in

centimetre and inches.

An ammeter is a measuring instrument used

to measure the current in a circuit. Electric
currents are measured in amperes (A), hence
the name. Instruments used to measure
smaller currents

A voltmeter is

an

instrument

measuring electrical

used

for

potential difference

between two points in an electric circuit.

Analog voltmeters move a pointer across a
scale in proportion to the voltage of the circuit;
digital voltmeters give a numerical display of
voltage

by

use

of

an analog

to

digital

converter.

Clamp Ammeter is also called tong tester. It

is used to measure the current flowing in a
conductor. It is clamped or hung in a
conductor.

Volt-Ohmmeter (VOM) also called multitester is used to measure the voltage,

resistance, and current of a circuit. It is
connected in parallel or series with the circuit
depending on what to measure.

IV. Generalization
Measurement requires measuring instruments in accordance with the elements that will we
measure electronics. Through this measure, it will know the condition of the system circuit,
whether it works or not. One Indicator whether or not the circuit works by measuring the
input and output.

V. Application
The students will be able to answer the jumbled letters. Arrange the letters to form words
pertaining to electrical measuring tools and instruments.

VI. Evaluation
Direction: Encircle the letter that corresponds to the correct answer. Write your answers in a
sheet of paper.
