GUIDANCE SERVICES

The goals and objectives of the Guidance Program are implemented through
the following GUIDANCE SERVICES:

INDIVIDUAL INVENTORY - this service is designed to gather all

reliable data, information and records and to assemble these
materials for their functional use. The two major purposes of the
individual inventory/analysis are: a) to acquaint the pupil with his
own personality as a whole in order to gather data in discovering
his potentials and disabilities and b) provide the counselors and
teachers with bases for helping pupils to make intelligent
choices, plans and decisions to help them be fully developed and
fulfilled person.

Several methods of collecting information about the individual for

analysis may
be used:
a. Testing intelligence test, achievement test and
special aptitude tests.
b. Inventories- interests and personality
c. Case studies and conferences
d. Pupils autobiographies
e. Home visitations
f. Anecdotal records

INFORMATION SERVICE The function of the Information

Service is to make available to the pupils all information through
instructional program or during the regular period of instructions.
It gives a continuous program about educational and important
facts covering personal and social adjustments. Such information
is necessary to guide them in making intelligent vocation or
educational choices.

COUNSELING SERVICE - Is a process that involves a

relationship between two individuals, one of whom is the
counselor who is more experienced and has the capacity to give
counseling or advises or at its best, a good listener to the
counselee, who is the second individual who is in need of
somebody to talk to, to be listened and to unburden whatever
trouble or problem he is in. A counselee may also be a pupil to be
guided for him to
attain his goals

in life. Counseling is an educative process where both persons

learn from each other and can arrive to a common solution for
the betterment of an individual.

Counseling is the heart of the Guidance Program. It is

where the counselor and the counselee have a face to face
activity. The purposes of counseling are the following:
1. To give the pupil information on matters important to
his success.
2. To get information about the pupil that will help him
in solving his problem.
3. To establish a feeling of mutual understanding
between pupil and teachers
4. To help the pupil know himself better, his interests,
abilities, aptitude, potentials and available
opportunities.
5. To inspire successful endeavors toward the
attainment for realization of objectives
6. To assist the pupils in planning for his educational
and vocational choices.

TESTING SERVICE Helps

in measuring the level of intelligence, the individual capacity and
abilities of the pupils. It helps gauge as to where is the right
placement of each pupil so as to help him adjust easily with his
peers.

PLACEMENT SERVICE Helps the pupil secure the most

effective
relationship to
the
next
step in his educational or personal program. The goal
of
the
placement
service is the adjustment of
the individual to his chosen educational or vocational
endeavor
and in the end adjustment to
his field of interest or job.

CAREER SERVICE- As early as the child will be aware of what he

wants to become someday is of beneficial for him. In this career

service, the child can be guided as to his goals and ambitions in

life and can help him choose the schools and course he will
enroll.

FOLLOW- UP SERVICE An
integral part of Guidance Service is the follow-up service. This
concerns with what happened to pupils while in school or often,
when they left school. Through this, which is being conducted by
the counselor, the counselee learns the nature and the extent of
his progress.
Every teacher can use follow-up study to
determine the effectiveness of instruction in altering pupils
behavior.
Without follow-up, it is said that counseling is
incomplete and so are other services of the Guidance Program..
