COMPRESSION SYSTEMS

Maestro PLC Control Systems

With more than 50 years in the centrifugal compressor business, Cameron has implemented their
advanced control algorithms in programmable logic controllers. Many customers require similar
automation equipment throughout their facilities since controls specialists are often required to work
with many different types of machinery. This often means that microprocessor based black box
systems are not an option. The versatility and connectivity of both Allen-Bradley (Maestro PLC) and
Siemens (Maestro PLC-S) systems makes the Maestro line of controllers an attractive option for
customers.

FEATURES

BENEFITS

Application Versatility

Various hardware and software options are available for

customization and advanced control. Additional
communication options are also available to customize the
Maestro PLC to the customer facility.

Control Modes

Auto-Dual and Constant Pressure control are the standard

control modes available on all Maestro PLC systems.
Additional control modes are available as upgrade options.

Energy Conservation

Auto Start/Stop allows compressors to start and stop as

needed saving energy. Up to 5 compressors can be
sequenced together by upgrading to the sequencing option.

Advanced Communications

The Maestro PLC communicates to the HMI via Ethernet for

fast update times and reliable communications. Each control
panel comes with an Ethernet switch which provides additional
Ethernet connections to the customer for use on their network
and for remote control and monitoring. Additional
communication protocols are also available.

Application Versatility

Various hardware and software options are available for

customized, advanced functionality. If a specific option is
requested, the Cameron Aftermarket department can provide
cost adder information.

Open Source Code

Customers want access to the software controlling their

machinery. Cameron provides the PLC software without
passwords or restrictions in the event a customer wants to
further customize their control system.

COMPRESSION SYSTEMS

Maestro PLC (Allen Bradley)

The Maestro PLC utilizes the CompactLogix platform in order to utilize the power of the Logix 5000
programming software, while staying at a competitive price. The CompactLogix line of processors
utilizes the robust 1769 series I/O modules, which is utilized in several Allen-Bradley processor lines.
The standard Maestro PLC control panel includes the following hardware:

1769-L35E Compactlogix Processor which includes 1.5MB of memory with built in Ethernet
and serial ports.
1769-OB16 16 channel digital output module.
1769-IQ16 16 channel digital input module.
1769-OF2 2 channel analog output module.
(2) 1769-IF8 8 channel analog input module.
1769-IR6 6 channel RTD input module.
Panelview Plus 700 6.5 Color Touch/Keypad HMI
4 box mounted push buttons (Start, Stop, E-Stop Reset).
8 Relay control board.
AB 24VDC 5A power supply.
N-Tron 4 port Ethernet switch.
NEMA 4X enclosure

The standard Maestro PLC includes the following features:

2 modes of control: Constant Pressure and Auto Dual

Customizable inputs with customizable alarm and trip setpoints
Auto Start/Stop
Trending Screen for graphical data representation
PID screens for visual representation of data

Cameron provides many upgrades to the standard system listed above including, but not limited to:

Additional control modes (constant flow, HIC)

Additional I/O
Modbus communication for remote monitoring and control
Compressor Sequencing (up to 5 compressors at once)
Audio/Visual Alarm trip function including horn and light
Control Panel Cooler/Heater
Upgrade to ControlLogix with or without redundant processors

COMPRESSION SYSTEMS

Maestro PLC-S (Siemens)

The Maestro PLC-S utilizes the Siemens S7-300 series processors to provide machine level control.
Siemens PLCs are programmed using Step 7 Professional edition software. The rack mount I/O
system is similarly priced to the Maestro PLC, and offers many of the same features for the customer
who prefers the Siemens automation platform.
The standard Maestro PLC-S control panel includes the following hardware:

6ES7 317-2EK13-0AB0 - 317 Processor with Profinet/Ethernet port and 1MB of memory
