BACKGROUND
Indonesia is a big country with many mineral resources. Located in equator region,
make the country have a good land for plantation and tropical climate. Maritime sector is a
natural resources potential of marine with many kinds of fish, under water stone, sea grass, etc.
The most significant resources in deep water sea are crude oil and gas. Indonesiahave many
resources of oil and gas from Sumatra, Natuna island, Mahakam block, Makassar strait, etc. This
is amajor contribution and significance role to give revenue for the country. So marine
technology, ship industry, and offshore drilling are very important to support oil and gas
exploration.
In this case, Chevron Indonesia Company also have a significance share to conduct
offshore exploration both in upstream and in downstream. Then, we as a student of Marine
Technology Department would like to study more detail about that matter such as exploration,
oil transportation, shipping, etc. We hope any synergy mutualism established between Chevron
Indonesia Company and 10th November Technology Institute, Surabaya for Indonesia better in
the future.

OBJECTIVE
Objective of On The Job Training in PT Chevron Indonesia Company can be described as follow:

To give student a work experience in oil & gas sector in Chevron Indonesia Company in
order to get working procedure in petroleum exploration.

Student can understand and study some problems facing in oil field and how to solve it.

Student can implement knowledge from the Institute to real condition in exploration
field.

Student can understand about as follow :

o Working method of energy resource exploration
o Drilling System in offshore
o Distribution method from oil well to tanker vessel.
o Oil refinery processing
o Operation, repairing and maintenance of each equipments
o Type of survey, inspection and certificate required for drilling activity
o System involved in drilling

As referencefor development of laboratory analysis method in Indonesia both
updating process and technology which can be used by academic activities in the
Institute and knowledge in oil processing.

For Chevron Indonesia Company

Establish mutually network between the Institute and Chevron Indonesia Company in
next time. The company can use laboratory and another facility in the Institute for
their purpose. In another side, the Institute can supply qualified and certified
manpower as required by the Company.

For Student
Student have knowledge more deeply of oil exploration in Chevron Indonesia
Company and also get widely network regarding oil & gas exploration in Indonesia.

ACTIVITY
Detail activity during ON THE JOB TRAININGcan be described as follow:
1. Company introduction and workshop
Explain general description of Chevron Indonesia Company, introduction of company
operational, regulation, reporting system, organization, working permit, etc.
2. Basic Safety
Conduct basic safety training with refer to Chevrons Health, Safety, and Environment
standard. Such as Behavior Basic Safety, Sea Survival, etc.

3. On the Job Training

Scope of on the Job Training is conducted covering some items as follow:

Introduce construction atChevron Indonesia Company with its function.

Introduce Electrical & Control System, Drilling System, Piping System for oil and
mud, Distribution System, Transportation and Shipping, and another system.
Introduce of upstream and downstream process.
Introduce Company Management System

4. Take and collecting data as reference of on the job training report. Data required as
follow:
Company organization chart, including vision and mission.
Operationalfield ofChevron Indonesia Company
On site study, such as :
Daily and weekly activity.
Result of observation during On the Job Trainingconducted in site.
5. Reporting System
On the job training report will be made accordance with scientific reporting system and
approved

by

the

Company

and

the

Institute

(DEPARTMENT

OF

MARINE

EGINEERING).Content of the report are all activities conducted during on the job
training, description of program studyrelated to the Company operation, question and
answer resulting on the job training. The report will be closed by summary and
recommendation for improvement, if any.

6. Report Submission
On the job training report will be submitted after arrange completed. The report must
be approved by the Company first, then by the Institute (DEPARTMENT OF MARINE
EGINEERING).

between whats the industries needed and qualification produced by the Institute or University
willbe broken or at least to be minimized. Opportunity given by Chevron Indonesia Company
