1'he most striking result of the rapid growth of our traffic is the phenomenon of the nose-to-tail formation; where once
you could adjust your manner of driving wholly in accordance with road conditions, you are now suddenly forced to
adapt yourself to the (often completely unsuitable) restraint of an
under-powered car or an indecisive man in front. The closely following traffic cuts off your escape to the rear - usually
it is not possible to keep at the correct distance necessary for safety. The only way out is forward. But this possibility also
disappears when the power reserves of your car are insufficient to take advantage of the gaps in the oncoming traffic.
With the BMW 2000 a maximum power reserve is provided, to allow you to free yourself from the jams quickly and to
leave behind the tricky situations of the nose-to-tail driving.

The basic idea of the car as a whole, is closely akin to the name BMW. In the thirties BMW engineers created the
legendary BMW Type 328, a car that achieved a position midway between the conventional family car on the one hand
and the highly specialised racing car on the other.
Due to the influence of modern, technical and psychological aspects of traffic conditions, a long term view of design
principles were evolved culminating in the present range of BMW cars. Within the BMW range of cars, each new model
is given a distinctive appearance - from the economical family car to the luxury coupe.
