wasnotgivinganyhappiness,andwishedthatallthewealthbetakenaway.
ThesurprisedLordadvisedherthatifshepossessedsurpluswealth,shewoulddocharity.HowevertheQueen
wasfirmthatherwishbefulfilled.TheMonkfinallyblessedhertobeitso.Hetoldherthattomakeherwish
cometrue,sheshouldcoverthehousewithcowdung,washherhair,asktheKingtoshave,eatanddrinketc.
forsevenThursdays.
TheQueenobservedtheVratandherlifebecamefullofpoverty,hungerandmisery.TheKinggotajobofa
woodcutterandlivedfromhandtomouth.ThemaidsadvisedtheQueentoapproachherwealthysisterfor
help.
AmaidapproachedthesisterbutthesisterwasbusylisteningtothestoryofThursdayVratanddidnot
acknowledgeherpresence.LaterwhenshevisitedtheQueenandsawhercondition,sheadvisedherto
performtheThursdayVrat.
TheQueenobservedtheVratandprayedtoLordVishnuforsomeweeksandfinallytheGodblessedherand
reinstatedallherwealth.Asherdesiresforwealthgotfulfilled,theQueendiscontinuedtheVrat.Butthemaids
cautionedherthatwhatshewasdoingwasveryungratefulwhichmayleadtosevereproblems.

thatperiod.However,theVaishyatookhiswifeandcontinuedhisjourneybackhome.
Ontheway,thewheelofhischariotbrokedown,injuringhiswifeandthenearbydacoitslootedhimofallthe

Asthecouplereachedthehouse,theboycamebacktohissenses.Havingrealisedtheirmistake,whenthe
periodwastheriseofFriday,thecoupleweresentbackhome.Thereaftertheirlifewasveryhappyandjoyful.

ShaniindisguiseofahorsesellerapproachedtheKingwhochoseabeautifulhorse.Ashesatonthehorse,he
ranfarawayintothejungleanddisappeared.
TheKinggotlostintheforestsandfinallyreachedatown,wherehetookarestoutsideashop.Surprisinglyon
thatday,theshopkeepergotaroaringbusinessandthoughtthatthismanbroughthimluck.Theshopkeeper
tookhimtohishouseandfedhim.
But,whilehewasintheirhouse,anexpensiveornamentgotlostandhewasarrestedandbroughttotheroyal
court,whoorderedthatallhisfourlimbsbeexecutedfromthebody.
Lateron,theKingearnedhislivingbypullingabullockcartwithhisteeth.Afterthe'SaadeSati',theShani
periodoftheKinggotover,hewentonsingingloudly.Onhearingthis,theroyalprincesswassoimpressed
thatshevowedthatshewouldmarrythissingerandnooneelse.
Onherinsistance,herparentsgothermarriedtotheKing.Onthesamenight,LordShanicameinKing'sdreams
andtoldhimthathispresentstatewasbecausehehadannouncedLordShanitobetheweakestamongthe
planets.
KingVikramadityaapologisedandtheGodexcusedhim,andmadehimnormalwithhislimbsrestored.The
KingtoldLordShaniabouthissufferingsandrequestedhimthatheshouldnotgivesomuchmiserytoanyone.
LordShaniagreedandproclaimedthatwhosoeverlistensandnarrateshisstorieswillberelievedfromallevils
andmiseries.
ThetraderwhosenecklacewaslostcametoknowthefactsandrushedtotheKingVikramadityaand
apologisedhimandtookhimformealsathisplace.AstheKingwashavingmealsathishouse,miraculously
thelostnecklacereappeared.
Thetraderwassomuchpleasedthathegotthekingmarriedtohisdaughter.TheKingVikramadityareturned
tohisnativetown,withhiswivesandlotofwealth.
NextdaytheKingannouncedthatLordShaniwastheSupremeamongtheplanetsandnoonewillever
undervaluethestrengthofLordShani.
TheKingobservedtheVratofLordShani,onSaturdays.
ThosewhoworshipLordShanionSaturdaysandobserveVratwillhavenoworriesandwillleadahappylife.
TheLordHanumanisalsoworshippedonSaturdaysbecausedevoteesofLordHanumanareneverinfluenced
bytheShanisign.AspertheepicRamayan,RavanhadarrestedLordShaniwhenLordHanumanfreedhim
fromhiscaptivity,duringtheburningofLanka.ThegratefulLordShanipromisedHauman,thatShaniwouldnot
affectthosewhowillworshipLordHanuman.

fromneighbourhoods,forperformingpuja,everymornings.Shehadhermeals,onlyafterthepooja.
Oneday,theneighbourdecidedtolockthecowinsidethehouse,sothatshewouldnotgetthecowdung.The
lady,unabletogetthecowdung,couldnotperformthepujaandfastedforthewholeday.
God,whowitnessedthehappenings,cameintheoldlady'sdreamsandtoldherthathewaspleasedwithher
devotionandwaspresentingherwithaCow.Theladywokeuptofindacowstandinginhercourtyard.
Beforetheladywokeup,herneighbourhadseenthecowandwassurprisedtoseethatinsteadofcowdung,
thecowwasexcretinggold.Outofjealousy,shepickedupthegoldandsubstituteditwithcowdung.
OneeveningtheGodcreatedastorm.Seeingthistheoldladylockedhercowinsideherhouse.Whenshewoke
up,shewassurprisedtoseethegoldandrealisedwhatherneighbourwasupto.Thereaftershemadeita
practicetolockthecowinsideandcollectthegold.Withthetimeshebegantoprosper.
Outofjealousy,theneighbourinformedthistothekingwhenthekingorderedtogetthecowinhis
custody.Theoldladyprotestedbuttheking'smenbroughtthecowtothepalace.Butinthemorning,insteadof
gold,theentirepalacewasfullofcowdung.
TheGodcameintheKing'sdreamsandaskedhimtoreturnthecowtoit'srightfulowner.TheKingrealised
hismistakeandpromptlysentthecowbacktotheladyandpunishedtheneighbour.
ThereaftertheKingorderedthatonSundays,allshouldobserveaVratforapeacefulandhappylife.
