statement
Posted: January 07, 2016

*KJAS News allows local political candidates to issue an unpaid political statement about
themselves prior to an election. The following is from Jasper County Precinct 5 Constable
incumbent Mike Poindexter.
"My name is Mike Poindexter and I am your Constable in Precinct 5 Jasper County which includes
Brookeland, Browndell and the Rayburn Country Lake Rayburn area. I would like to take this time to
announce my candidacy for re-election as the incumbent in the upcomomg March primary election on the
Republican ticket. During my tenure as your Constable, I have worked hard to make this office one of
dependability. I have been and will continue to be available and accountable at all times to all the citizens
of Precinct 5. At this time, even though I do not have an opponent, I will be placing signs around Precinct 5
and visiting with my consituents of my precinct. I believe that as your elected official, it is my job to see I
meet every challenge encountered or brought to my attention with a positive attitude. As your Constable, if
you call my office for assistance, I maintain the promise that you will be greeted with a can do attitude
and never hear the words I can not help you or call this number to see if they can assist you. I have and
will continue to do everything within my legal authority to assist you in any way I can. I would like to thank
you for your support that you have provided me over the past 4 years to make this a professional public
office and I am asking for your continued support in the upcoming election. If you have any questions or
suggestions on how to make the office of Constable in Precinct 5 better or more successful so I can serve

you, please give me a call at 409-382-7866 or 409-698-9335. Again, thank you for your vote and the

Lady Dawgs Dominate Home Opener

Updated: January 06, 2016 - 11:00 am

The Jasper Lady Dawg soccer team opened the 2016 campaign with a 6-1 throttling of the Livingston Lady
Lions. Jasper owned possession of the ball and dictated how and where the game would be played
which was in the Jasper attacking half of the field for the vast majority of the night. Alivia Richardson was
the early beneficiary of the Jasper passing game and she made Livingston pay by firing two shots in the
back of the Livingston net for an early 2-0 lead. Julianna Carter added a 3rd goal early in the half and it
looked like the Lady Dawgs were going to coast to an easy victory. Livingston revived and countered with
a late first half goal to make the game interesting once again as the half ended 3-1.
But the Lady Dawgs had no intention of letting the Lady Lyons back in the game. After a few half time
adjustments by Coach Gabbi Carter, the Lady Dawgs answered in the first minute of the second half when
holding midfielder Macy Kendrick played a perfectly placed ball in the path of forward Julianna Carter that
Carter clinically dispatched in the back of the net for a commanding 4-1 lead. In the next five minutes,
Carter added another break-away goal and the Lady Lyon were toast. Jasper added a final goal late in the
game when attacking midfielder Kylee Dominy played a beautiful penetrating diagonal pass to on running
outside midfielder Alivia Richardson. Richardson calmly placed the ball in the goal for the final score of the
game. Jasper won the contest by a final score of 6-1.
