Q1: Can you see a symmetry? Its symmetric about?
The Eiffel tower has 8 lines of symmetry. 4 straight down the middle of each face and 4 others
straight down the edges. The symmetry within the Eiffel tower helps with its stability. There are
equal and opposite forces acting against it. Therefore, it stays standing strong. It has 4 large
arches and many small arches. It has iron beams that create x forms of multiple triangles which
are the strongest shape.
The Eiffel tower in Paris, France, has bilateral symmetry. You can see this when u draw a line
down the middle of the tower from top to bottom. If you could look down upon the Eiffel tower
from above, you would see that it also has rotational symmetry.

Q2: Which function is showing the tower?

The function shown in the above graph is y =

1
x

1
The function shown in the above graph is y = x
1
So by the help of graph, I think that the tower is showing the function y = x
Q3: Where you can draw an asymptote for the function?
The Eiffel Tower hints towards both vertical and horizontal infinity. Due to the curvature of the
tower, and the fact that the slope along the edge of the tower is not constant, the side of the tower
looks like it is approaching a vertical asymptote.
In other words, if we had no building constraints and decided to continue building the tower, the
sides would appear to converge, but will not ever actually do so. There is essentially no
geometric cap to the curves of the Eiffel Tower; the lines continue upwards in an infinite fashion.
Even if the Eiffel Tower could not be built to the current height, the asymptote-like nature still
suggests infinite vertical space.
Likewise, the curvature of the Eiffel Tower also brings in a horizontal asymptote at the ground
level. The building appears to ease itself into the ground, a slight contrast to the way other
pyramidal structures seem to shoot out of the ground abruptly.
Vertical Asymptote:
Setting x = 0 yields the solution, the graph has vertical asymptote at x = 0 that is y-axis.
Horizontal Asymptote:
If the polynomial in the numerator is lower than the denominator than y = 0 gives the solution
that x-axis is the horizontal asymptote.
Q4: Can you find the limit, domain and range of that function?
Limit of the function is given as:1
x

lim

By applying limits, we get

1

As x approaches infinity, then

1
x

approaches to 0.

Domain of the function can be found out as:( x: x R,x 0

x> 0x <0
Domain is from negative infinity to positive , except 0, since at that point the function is
undefined because of division by zero.
Range of the function can be found out as:( y : y R , y >0)
y >0 y< 0

The range is also from negative infinity to positive , because as the curve approaches to zero
from both sides the value reaches infinity or minus infinity for negative x and as you plug in
greater numbers for x your asymptote approaches zero but never hits zero.

Q5: Find stationary point of the function?

To find stationary points we do the following:1
f ( x )= y =
x
By taking derivative, we get
f ' ( x )=

1
x2
f ' ( x )=0

Let

1
=0
x2

Then
x=

1
0

Hence

x=

Now putting the value of x in y, we get

y=0

Q6: Why is it necessary to make tower symmetric?

Sometimes we ask, why is symmetry important? The answer to this is that when we look at a
structure, we notice its shape. Shape helps us recognize and identify structures. One aspect of
shape is symmetry. A structure shows symmetry if its two halves are mirror images of each other
(Figure 1). A line of symmetry is an imaginary line that divides a symmetrical object into two
mirror-image halves.

Symmetry helps makes tower stable. A tower must be able to support its own weight, as well as
the other forces acting on it. A towers own weight is its dead load.
The dead load of a symmetrical tower is usually spread evenly along its length. This makes the
tower more stable. Symmetry can also help a designer to find the center of gravity.
Towers are made symmetric to distribute equal load on its pillars to make it stable.
The decision to symmetrically align the Twin Towers and connect them with a spanning bridge
emphasized the classical nature of the architectural design. If the towers were not connected with

the spanning bridge, they should have fallen down pretty soon (which happened on 9/11 in a
different manner).
