Week 1 Lesson 1
ACTIVITY PLAN
Learning Objectives:
1) Children will be able to identify the different mode of transportations that
they take in order to go to school
2) Children will be able to chart out their mode of transportation and use
the chart to infer which is the most used mode of transportation.
3) Children will be able to practice rote counting to 10.

Introductory Activity:

Teachers Notes

Teacher will start off the lesson by introducing a


musical book, We all go travelling by by Sheena
Roberts.

After that, teacher will engage children in a short
discussion to find out childrens interest.
Guiding questions:
-What are some of the ways we travel?
-How do we travel around?

-How do we travel to other countries?
-How do people move from one place to another?
Lesson Development:
Teacher will then move on to the next part of the
lesson whereby teacher will ask children to chart out
how they travel to school.
Teacher will engage children to think of the ways they
travel to school every day.
Children will then be facilitated to draw and write out
the mode of transportation they take to school
everyday on a chart which looks like the following:

Teacher will then facilitate children to share who


travelled with them to school.
After charting, teacher will facilitate children to count
the numbers of children, which used the same mode of
transportation.
Teacher will practice rote counting with the children.
Teacher will then allow a few children to write out the
numbers that they have counting in numerals and

words.

Closure:
At the end of the activity, teacher will allow children to
compare and figure out which is the most used form of
transport that they take to reach school.
Teacher will also engage children to find out which
mode of transportation is the least used by the
children.
Teacher will emphasize to children that different
people uses different mode of transportation as they
travel everyday.
Follow up:
Teacher will invite children to show and tell their
experience on their way to school.

Introductory Activity:

Teachers Notes

BRIGHT KIDS SCHOOL HOUSE


Teacher will start off the lesson by introducing the
poem, Go, Go, Go! to the children.
Teacher will first read the poem to the children before
engaging the children to read.
When reading, teacher will also emphasize on the
rhyming words, such as far and car.
Teacher will articulate her words clearly in order to
emphasize it to the children.

After reading, teacher will then emphasize that there


are 3 classification of transportation such as land, air
and sea.
Lesson Development:
Teacher will then move on to the lesson, whereby
teacher will show children images of the 3 different
classification of transportation for children to sort.
Teacher will then allow children to talk about the
different transports and to discuss the differences.
Guiding questions:
-How are the transports different?
-What are some of the places you can spot the

different transportations?
-Can you name me some of the characteristics of the
different transportation?
-How is the different transportation different?
Teacher will then help children to classify the different
images of transportation on the whiteboard.
After that, teacher will facilitate children to complete a
worksheet.
Teacher will aid in children to classify and sort the
different transportation according to the
characteristics.
Closure:
At the end of the lesson, teacher will reinforce
childrens learning by asking children to name out
another transportation of the same classification to
add on to the list.
Teacher will then tell children that different
transportations serves different purposes to help the
lives of people.
Teacher can also allow children to ponder what will
happen if there is no transportation on land, air or sea.
Follow up:
Teacher can allow children to share about their
experience on a transport on land, air or sea with their
peers.

Lesson Development:
Teacher will then invite children to create a class
transportation chart for children to explore the various
modes of transportations using art and craft.
Prior to the activity, teacher will lead children in a
discussion to find out what they know.
Guiding questions:
-What are some of the transportation found in the air?
- What are some of the transportation found on the roads?
- What are some of the transportation found on the sea?
-What other transportation do you know?

Closure:
At the end of the activity, teacher will recap with the
children the different transportation art that they have
created.
Teacher can also facilitate children to label the different
transportation.

the traffic rules in Singapore.
Teacher will then read through the vocabulary list of
different transportations.
Teacher will then discuss with children some of the
functions of the vehicles.
For example, the airplane brings people from one
country to another.
Teacher will then encourage children to finish the
worksheet independently.
Closure:
At the end of the activity, teacher will reinforce
childrens learning by telling children that
transportations are in their environment.
Teacher will also emphasize that transportation helps in
the daily lives of people in the community.
Follow up:
Teacher can engage children to draw out the
transportations that they can observe and identify
when they are out for a walk.

in Singapore.
Teacher will explain to the children that dump trucks
help to transport heavy construction goods from place
to place etc.
After that, teacher will then engage children to create
an art on dump trucks which requires them to use their
imagination with the manipulation of recycled
materials.

Closure:
Teacher will end off the lesson by telling children and
reinforcing their learning that dump trucks are usually
found in industrial sites in Singapore, as its purpose is
to transport heavy materials and goods for
construction purposes. Teacher can also allow children
to talk about their artwork that they have created.
Follow up:
Teacher can allow children to draw out a dump truck as
well as to explain what does a dump truck transport.
