Acquiring hot body has become fashionable nowadays, most of
the advertisements that we see all encourage us to obtain such.
Some sacrifice many things to acquire it. They sacrifice eating even the food they love and spend many hours in the gym for the sake of maintaining their hot figure just like our many brothers here. Some even spend their fortune to obtain it by means of buying supplement and other accessories that would help them. The bandwagon of hot body has already been deeply set in the minds of many persons in the modern and secularized world but there is one hotness that the Lord in todays gospel wished us to acquire instead. The H which stands for Humility, The O which stands for Openness and the T which stand for thankfulness. Humility. In todays gospel we see an occasion where Jesus is thanking God for revealing this to the lowly ones and hiding it to the wise. Perhaps you may ask? Is it wrong to be intelligent? is it wrong to be wise and learned in many things? The lord does not mean that it is wrong in fact in other gospel passages he encourages us to be so, but in the gospel, the lord warns us not to be proud and boastful in what we have attained and be a Mr. know-it-all. He reminds us that pride blocks us from seeing the grace of God which he gives us and also hinders us from receiving more blessing from Him, as the tagalog song goes, basong may tubig lagyan mong muli aapaw dahil wala ng silid. It is because we failed to be humble and think of having everything that we become blind to the beauty of God revelations. Another virtue connected to this is openness. Pride is what makes us closeminded and disregard the grace of God, because of our self-sufficient feeling that we became resistant to the help of God. That is why in the gospel, the lord praised the lowly and humble because they are more open to receive the Lord in their lives unlike the proud hearted and self-sufficient persons. The Lord makes impossible things on those who are open for it so in this advent season, let us try to be open for the grace of God for in doing so, God will make miracles in our lives. Thirdly, Thankfulness. We see in todays gospel the thankful attitude of Christ to God the father. Perhaps you may ask why St. luke stressed on that attitude of Jesus? It is to remind us that us a humble and open person it is by nature that we should be thankful for all the graces that the lord has made us, as what the Spanish saying goes un ser bien nacido es agradecido it is by nature of an educated man to be thankful. So let us try to be thankful always for all the graces that we receive from God be it trials and difficulties or success and victories. As I end this reflection, let us ask the intercession of the blessed mother to help us be a Hot person that is a humble, open
thankful person so that we may become a good instruments of
