COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course prepares the program participants on the use of statistics in assisting
managerial decision making in the industrial world. Specific topics to be covered
include techniques of counting, probability theory and elements of statistics
including binomial and normal distributions, descriptive statistics, sampling
distributions, statistical inferential procedures for population parameters, simple
linear regression and correlation analysis and time-series forecasting.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course prepares the program participants on the use of statistics in assisting
managerial decision making in the industrial world. Specific topics to be covered
include techniques of counting, probability theory and elements of statistics
including binominal and normal distributions, data collection, descriptive
statistics, sampling distributions, statistical inferential procedures for population
parameters, simple linear regression and correlation analysis and time-series
forecasting.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. Identify and knowledge technique in statistics
2. Be familiar to use of statistics in assisting managerial decision making
3. Know the various areas in which Statistics industrial work
METHODS OF INSTRUCTIONS
Classroom instruction consists of lectures and practical problem solving,
supplemented by visual aids designed to assist the student to successfully meet
the courses learning objectives. Industrial Statistics is a three-credit course,
sixteen weeks in duration, consisting of two and half lecture hours per week and
examination.
ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENT
In compliance with academic rules.

ASSESSMENT

In order to arrive at a final grade for the course, evaluation of a student's

performance is made as follows:
Quizzes & Assignment
Mid Term Exam
Final Exam
Total

: 30%
: 30%
: 40%
:100%

Students are required to do a term project to be announced in the first class and
subsequent opportunities.
Attendance
Students are expected to attend all classes. Anyone unable to attend, please
contact the instructor as soon as possible to make arrangements for make-up
work (if necessary). Make-up assignments will only be given when necessary
due to extreme circumstances such as a death in the family, illness, etc. The
student is responsible for any missed information (class notes, handouts, etc.).
