MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB


To act as the main operational and liaison co-ordinator within the Deputy High Commission
Security Team based in Karachi. Assist and advise the Overseas Security Manager (OSM) in
relation to operational and cultural sensitivities throughout Pakistan (in particular Sindh and
Karachi areas). Advise staff regarding travel movements for operational and social travel.
You will at times be the main point of contact for the BDHC in relation to security matters.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (What will the jobholder be expected to Approximate

Lead operational liaison Officer between the Deputy High Commission
Security Team and host nation authorities. Including police (all levels),
Rangers, Military, ASF, local officials and other governmental departments.

Liaison with local foreign missions, security companies and individuals.

Advisor to the OSM in relation to historical events, sensitivities and


cultures with any given events or location within areas of operation.

Lead Security Team contact point for all internal and UK visitors to Karachi.
Security coordinator for these visits.

Advisor to staff for official and personal travel outside Karachi.

Assist the security team in compiling a weekly security bulletin

Responsible for the daily running of the 116 person contract guard force.

Weekly testing of the BDHC technical electronic equipment, (alarm


systems, radio and vehicle tracking systems)
Stand in for OSM whilst he is away from post, and any other tasks as
directed by OSM.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
BDHC Security Section provides security to all departments in the mission and visiting
employees of the British Government. The job holder is expected to perform their duties to
a high standard. The Job holder operates in a very diverse environment but is expected to
work within set rules. The Job holder will operate under the direction of the British Overseas
Security Manager. Given the nature of the task work is required outside office hours from
time to time

Essential on Arrival
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree from a recognized
institution.
Excellent communication skills.
Knowledge of civilian Security Industry.
Extensive knowledge of security operations and procedures.
Excellent command of English and national language (Urdu),
orally and in written format.
Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
(Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint)
Knowledge of technical security equipment. (Radios and
residential alarms.)
Military experience of a regular Major or above (or Police
equivalent) essential, with Exemplary record.

SALARY PACKAGE
For British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) candidates, the Local Staff Terms & Conditions
will apply.
For other than BDHC candidates, salary will be PKR 164,469 per month.
