FIRST DAY:Read the notes and the references.
1. What was meaningful to you in the lecture?
In Revelation, the opening of the seven seals ushers in the last and final great day of the Lord. Yet this day is foretold
and repeated throughout Scripture, quite prominently in Joel, whose prophecy we explore this week. The prophecies of
the day of the Lord usually have an immediate and future fulfillment.
3. How does this passage describe the day of the Lord?
The day of the lord is coming where everything in the world will be destroyed. Nothing will be left
4. What may have brought on the destruction that is described in this passage?
Destruction was brought by the Lord because the people who are called by his name had failed to honor God and they were
engage into idolatry and other things that doesn't please God
5. Can you remember and share with your group a time of desolation in your life? What was your response? What
was the result?
10. a. Read Acts 2:17-21. In light of the Spirit that Joel mentions in 2:28-29, put in your own words what Peter, in
his sermon at Pentecost, repeated from Joels prophecy.
This Joel passage is fulfilled at Pentecost when the Spirit of the Lord came upon the disciple of Jesus and they started
speaking in new languages prophesying things.
b. Why is it important that the changing of the cosmos is repeated so frequently in Scripture? (See Joel 2:28-32;
Isaiah 13:9-11; Matthew 24:29-30; Revelation 6:12-14.)
Changing of the cosmos is repeated in those scriptures to emphasis what will happen at the day of judgment. It also serves
as a warning to the people to repent their sins and turn to God
11. a. What are some of the ways the Holy Spirit works throughout history. (See Genesis 1:2; John 3:3-8; John
16:5-15; Acts 2:1-13; 2 Peter 1:21; or any other Scripture for your answer.)
The Holy Spirit works all over the world. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us to God and also it interpret for us what to come. The
Holy Spirit is an enabler
12. a. What does God promise for those who call on the name of the Lord, and what does this mean for you?
God promise that whoever calls His name will be saved and delivered of all the desolation during the day of judgment
b. Knowing the promise of the coming day of the Lord, how are you comforted by Joel 1-2?
I am comforted to know that the Lord will repay all what was destroyed and that He will protect me against this destructions
FIFTH DAY:Read 2 Peter 3.
13. a. In light of the coming day of the Lord, what did Peter encourage the recipients of his letter, including you, to do?
Peter encourage me that God is patience and His patience is my salvation
b. What can you expect from those who do not believe in Jesus Christ?
They will be destroyed
c. What have these unbelievers forgotten?
They have forgotten the Lord their God
14. What does the Lord say about His timing for the day of the Lord, and why is it important that He has not
returned already?
The Lord promised to come but never gave us a definite time, This is important as He will come anytime
15. a. How are you resisting the truth of what Scriptures teach about Gods wrath, judgment and day of the Lord?
I am resisting this truth due to so many theories that have been developed from this scriptures
b. What change do you believe God is asking you to make in light of what you have learned about yourself?
The Lord is asking me to repent, repent and repent my sins and return to Him
SIXTH DAY:Review Joel; 2 Peter 3.
16. What have you learned about God in this weeks study? How may your group pray for you as you make this truth
a part of your life?
Repentance is the Key to return to GOD. I would like my group to pray for me to repent fully my sins to GOD.
