The problem statement
A study to assess the effectiveness of acupressure on the labour pain during the first
stage of labour among primi mother in selected hospital of Delhi.
Comments
Problem statement is clearly and concisely stated.

Problem adequately narrowed down into a researchable problem.

Research problem significantly enough to warrant a formal research effort.
Problem statement or purpose of statement express a relationship between two
variables that is acupressure on Li4 (independent variable) and the labour pain
expressed by the primi mothers (Dependent variable). They are tested
hypothetically using descriptive and inferential statistic.
Problem statement and/or purpose specify the nature of the population being
studied and need for the study.
Relationship between the identified problem and previous research is NOT
clearly described in the study.
Literature review
Literature review is logically organized in the study under three subdivisionsliterature related to use of non pharmacological methods to reduce labour pain,
literature related to the effect of acupressure on general health and literature
related to effectiveness of acupressure on labour pain.
Review in the study provided the critique of the studies appropriately.
Gaps or conflicts in knowledge of the problem are well identified in the study.
Important and relevant references included in the study for the further review.
Reference cited by the researcher mainly from the secondary sources in the
review of literature.
Theoretical and conceptual framework
In the study conceptual model selected for this Study was based on nursing process
developed by Ida Jean oralando in 1958.
Conceptual framework easily linked with the problem. Well defined, correlated
with study and applied in the study in the form of nursing process.
Relationship among concepts well defined in the study.
Operational definitions of the independent and dependent variables they reflect
the conceptual definitions appropriately.
Research variables
Independent and dependent variables are defined in the study, how they can use
and tool for measurement of the variables well defined by the researcher in the
study.
Confounding variables present in the study but not clearly mentioned by the
researcher.
Hypothesis

Two hypothesis made by researcher, hypothesis were clear, testable and

specific to the research study with the significant level.
Each hypothesis specified very well relationship between variables included in
the hypothesis.
Hypotheses logically flow with theoretical or conceptual framework.
Sampling
Researcher selected a small sample 3o in the control group and 30 in the
experimental group. Sample selection through simple random sampling
technique by lottery method.
Sample is representative of the defined population. Researcher selected
appropriate method of selection without the biasness.
Sample size and method of selection is appropriate the research design.
The findings of the research cannot be generalized due to small sample size.
Research design
Research design adequately described in the study.appropriate research design
was used for the study.
In the study quantitative research approach used by the researcher. The research
design used in the study was true experimental design-pre test and post test
control group design.
4. The data-collection procedures were same for the all subjects.
Ethical clearance was taken by the researcher form ethical committee. And
written consent taken from the subjects for the participation in the research.
Data collection methods
Appropriate method was used for the data collection.
Data collection tool was well described in the study.
Content validity was done by the researcher by giving tool to the experts, triout method and establishment of the reliability of pain scale done by
interobservable reliability which was 0.91.the tool used by researcher for the
study is reliable.
Data analysis
Result selection clear and logically organized in the study by the researcher in
the study.
Appropriate method of data analysis and measurement of each variable were
used by the researcher.

All the tables and figures used in the study were clear and easily u
understandable.
Statistical test applied by the researcher is appropriate method was used to test
the hypothesis and answer the research question. Level of significance
described in the study (0.05). Each table and diagrams have title and headings.
Interpretation and discussion of the findings
Researcher clearly distinguished between actual findings and interpretation in
the study.
Interpretations and research findings based on the data obtained after analysis.
Discussion of the findings in relation to the previous research and to the
conceptual/theoretical framework done by the researcher in the study.
Generalization was warranted due to the small sample size so the generalization
cannot be done.
Limitations of the research well defined in the study by the researcher.
Implications of the research study findings done by the researcher in various
setup nursing administration, nursing education, nursing practice, nursing
research.
Recommendations for the future research were identified by the researcher and
mentioned in the study.
Conclusion justified by the researcher.
References
References were relevant to the research and in a Vancouver style of format.
