Alumni receives valuable experience from Cable 8

“Cable 8 provides so
much hands-on experience
and knowledge that once
you are on a real set you al-
ready have an understanding
of what is going on and the
basic ideas for what it takes
to make a show.
While working with Cable
8, Vaughan upheld many
positions. She was one of
the producers for the morn-
ing show Wake up Wazzu,
and also directed a few seg-
ments for the first year of
Special Projects. As pro-
ducer for Wake up Wazzu,
Vaughan came up with
ideas for show segments,
booked guests on the shows,
and helped make the show
run smoothly. She also got
herself involved with other
Cable 8 shows when she
had free time.
“Cable 8 is diversified
enough so as a student you
are able to learn every posi-
tion needed to make a tele-
vision show on set and in
the field, and it allows crea-
tivity in putting together a
variety of show ideas,”
Vaughan said.
Vaughan says the most im-
portant experience she
gained from Cable 8 was
learning how to work with
others in a television pro-
duction setting.
“Cable 8 taught me how to
interact with other students,
teachers, and members of
the Pullman community so
when I graduated I was able
to work in a real world set-
ting in a professional way,”
Vaughan said.
