PRE CSIW

When you know that you are a facilitator, here are the things that you
should do.
1. Contact the Facilitators
Head.
It is very important that you know who the head is. You should
get his or her cellphone number for you to be easily reached
whenever there are some important announcements. Dance
rehearsals, prod works and other tasks for the facilitators will be
forwarded to the facilitator head.
2. Prepare the Dress
Code.
Being a facilitator means being the front bearers of the CSIW.
The participants will look up to you and the CSIWs theme will be
carried by your outft. Make sure that you have the correct outfit set
by the Programs Commit- tee to ensure that the theme and the
concept of the CSIW will be followed.
3.
Know
the
workshops.
As facilitators, you will supervise and give instructions to the
partici- pants about workshops. It is important that you understand
every step to avoid confusion and misinformation. Workshops are
discussed during Staff Training. Final orientation will be done during
Day 0.
4.
Practice
dances
and
presentations.
You are expected to perform a production number during the
opening night. To avoid freak shows or unpolished presentations,
which are not good to the reputation of the activity and of the
organization, it is advised that you should practice dances and
presentations before the take off for you to show a well-practiced
presentation.
5.
Help
other
committees
in
preparation.
During the preparation time, facilitators are required to help
other com- mittees in accomplishing their tasks. It is expected that
you should go to the ofce frequently to see if other committees need
your assistance.
6.
Ask
questions.
It is important that you let the core or your head know your
comments and suggestions regarding everything that is connected to
the activity. It might help in developing a better activity or having a
successful one.
CSIW
Proper
1. Work with the right
attitude.
During Day 0, expect that you will be dispersed into the other
commit- tees and help them preparing the necessary things for the
activity. Help them in accomplishing their tasks and understand them
because sometimes they are too stressed to say things in a calmer
way. Also, avoid unnecessary comments with regards to the nature of
the work. Remember that we all pledged to serve the youth so be
ready for the dirty jobs ahead.
2. Do not rest when it is not the time to
rest.
Look at your surroundings. Be fair when it comes to work. Do
not sleep while others are still working especially if it is not yet the
time to rest. Be sensi- tive enough, even you are already done with
your task, to help other people in accomplishing their tasks for them
to fnish early and rest early too.
3. Eat when it is time to
eat.

Eating on time should be a habit to avoid wasting time. Since

we only have short breaks, maximize it and do your stuff at breaks to
avoid moving of tasks in another hour thus prolonging the working
hours. Make sure that you eat at least twice a day for you to have
energy for the day.
4. Observe sleeping time and wake
up call.
Sleep when it is time to sleep because the rest time is limited.
In the morning, you will wake up early and a wake up call will be
done. Please pre- pare yourself and be at the session hall/
programs hall ten (10) minutes

earlier than the call

time.
5.
Always
look
presentable.
Make sure that your dress/ outft is in accordance with the
dress code and proper in the eyes of the participants. Also, make sure
that you look good and not haggard because you are the front
bearer of PSYSC during those times. Smile :D
6. Do not answer questions if you dont know the answer, if
you are
not sure and if you are not
allowed to.
If there are questions that you dont know how to answer or
you have a doubt that you are not allowed to, ask the staf, the core
or the NEC regard- ing this matter. Do not make your own statement
because your statement will reflect PSYSCs position. When you are
asked about fnancial matters, tell them to consult the NEC.
7. Meet your Kids with a
bang!
Prepare your own gimmicks on your frst day. Try to be creative in
knowing your kids and making them bond.
7.1 What if your kids are not that active?
It is expected at frst. Your kids came from diferent schools and
diferent years. Therefore, they will be shy at frst. Your job is to bring
their personality out by a series of team building activities or games
that will make them comfortable with each other.
7.2 What if your kids are super active?
It is ok. But make sure that being active does not make other
districts intimi dated and it does not create conflicts with other
districts. Also, control them when necessary.
7.3 What if there are pasaway kids?
First, always remember that you are more mature than them, so do
not act equal to what they are doing. The best thing that you can do
is to know their strengths and likes and handle them using those
things. Another, impose your authority. Make them acknowledge that
you are older, the leader. Do not make them more powerful than you
by acting like their maids. You are a facilitator and your job is to
guide them, not to do whatever they want.
7.4 What if your kids do not feel well?
to avoid
kids.

8.6 Act fast, think fast.

Sometimes, sessions will call the facilitators for additional
instructions. Make sure that in two minutes, you will be there with
them to avoid dead airs and additional noise. Also, think fast when
asked to do something or answer some- thing. With this, we can save
time and we can end the activity on time.
8.7 Do not create your own instruction.
Listen carefully when instructions are given. Do not create your own
instruction especially if it is about workshops or something in
connection with the contests.
8.8 Do not teach your kids the answer or the correct
process in workshops/ contests.
Remember that the workshop is designed to test the knowledge
gained by the kids. Do not interfere by teaching them the answers.
It will defy the whole point of the workshops and other competition.
8.9 Keep all the materials given.
You will be held accountable to all supplies that will be given to you
so make sure you keep them. If you lose something, it is either you
will have to replace it or you will not be given new supplies.
8.10 Observe the time.
When it is already time and the staff told you to pass the things or to
stop the activity, comply fast. This will save a lot of time and we can
ensure that we are still following the schedule.
9. SOP during Socials Night/ Entertainment
Night.
9.1 Encourage your kids to participate.

Inform any staff and make sure that immediate action will be done. If
you will leave your sub camp, make sure that there will be
someone to look after your kids.
7.5 What if your kids are always absent?
First, inform Ate Jizelle if one of your kids is absent for the frst
time. Let them check if s/he is staying in their quarters. If still, s/he is
not at- tending, tell the staff to talk to the adviser or personally talk to
the adviser and ask if there are any problems.
7.6 What if your kids want to move to another sub
camp?
Try to settle this matter with the kid frst. Ask what his/her problem.
Plan A: Convince him/ her that he/she will make friends with his/her
current subcamp. Most of the time, theyre just being shy. Plan B: If
s/he has a valid reason, talk frst to the secretariat committee and to
the director to formalize the transfer.
7.7 What if your kids want to go out of the venue?
Do not permit them immediately. Ask the staff regarding this matter
and let them talk to the adviser of the kid.
8.
SOP
during
sessions/programs/workshops.
8.1 Do not sleep.
It is a mortal sin to sleep. You are the fgure of authority and
leadership to the kids so do not set a bad example to them.
8.2 Do not leave your sub camp.
At all times, your kids should be with you. If there are immediate
situation that you need to attend to, make sure that there is someone
to look after your district.
8.3 Listen to the lecture.
During staff meetings, surprise quizzes may be given by the sesh
committee. We will also ask you to give us 5 questions about EACH
lecture for the subcamp quiz.
8.4 Do not flock together.
Do not go into clusters every sessions and programs. Do not talk with
your co- facilitators for a long time. Your kids will be noisy without
someone to look after them and it is distracting to the lectures.
8.5 Be responsible to your surroundings.
Make sure that you also look after to your surrounding districts
especially if their facilitator is not around. Make sure to look after
them to avoid noise an

There will be so many games during the whole event and the main
goal of this activity is to let them mingle with other sub camps. Make
your kids active and let them enjoy the activities!
9.2 Do not contradict the staff in front of many
people.
If there are problems regarding some rules in the games, approach
any of the programs committee members and tell them politely. Do
not make contradictions that can be heard by the participants.
9.3 Perform with confidence.
During the Entertainment Night, you will be grouped to perform
upstage. Pre- pare during your break time for you not to do freak
shows. Perform with conf- dence and own the stage when you are
asked to.
9.4 Do not loiter.
As reiterated, do not leave your subcamp. There will be times that
you will be allowed, but without prior notice, do not loiter around the
venue especially during sessions and programs.
10. SOP during field
trip.
10.1 Always count your kids.
Wherever you are, count your kids every now and then. This is to
ensure that nobody is missing. You can implement other rules to
ensure that your kids are still complete such as buddy systems, group
by group, etc.
10.2 Never allow your kids to transfer to another
bus without the permission of the
core/NEC.
In short, never allow your kids to be separated from you. Whatever
their rea- sons are, make sure to talk frst to the core/NEC before
making certain deci- sions.

12.
SOP
during
closing
ceremony.
12.1 Listen to the speakers and be attentive.
This is the last CSIW event so make sure that you still have energy
to listen and participate.
12.2 When you get an award, move fast.
When you get an award, go immediately to the stage with your kids.
Distribute the certifcates fast. Never mind the name written on the
certifcate. Just give it for the purpose of picture taking and distribute
it properly when you are back in your seats.
12.3 During FACI MOMENT, be serious.
This is your moment to tell your kids about your experience with
them. You will be given a maximum of 3 minutes to say what you
want to say. You are not required to cry. Just be yourself. If your
kids will go upstage, do not allow them and tell them that later, after
the program, you can bid your goodbyes with each other. Do not
make fun of the speech of your co-facilitators. Set the mood of this
moment. Do not name all of your kids.
12.4 Do not bid your goodbyes during the program,
do it
after
!
Let the program be fnished before you make your farewell stories and
speech- es. You have the whole night after the program to do it.
13. SOP when dealing with teachers, paragons and
guests.
13.1 What if a teacher shouted at you?
Understand the situation of the teacher. Do not cry in front of anyone
even if you feel you will. Just smile and take a deep breath and
politely tell the teacher some spiels like Yes maam/ sir, that will be
noted, Yes maam/sir, we will act on that matter shortly. Do not feel
embarrassed and do not take it personally. Its part of PSYSC life.
13.2 What if a teacher demanded you to do
something that
is
not
part
of
your
responsibility?
Taking their things to their quarters, delivering food and buying them
some- thing are not part of your responsibility. If you feel you want
to help them, do so but you are not required to do their biddings.
13.3 What if you are with a guest?
If there is a guest near you, do not talk any PSYSC issues, any rants
about the activity or any problem. Be sensitive enough to think of the
things that should not be heard by anyone else including teachers,
students and paragons. If the guest is with you, try to open up small
talks that will keep your guest entertain.
14. Attend the staff meeting every
night.
The day will be fnished after the staff meeting. It starts usually 15
minutes after the night activity. You will assess what happened on the
day and also, instructions will be given for the next day. Make sure
you listen attentively so that you know what to do and you can give
some inputs. You are not allowed to sleep during this time because
important announcements will be given.

10.3 Get your food supply on the signal of the food

committee
.
It is important that you get your own food supply because the food
committee is not responsible if you do not get your own food.
10.4 Entertain your kids during travel.
Sometimes, the travel time from one location to another can take an
hour or two. Since this is a very long time, try to do some ice breakers
or do some sessions like explaining the sites, its importance or
history, or just talk about something. Take this opportunity to bond
with your kids.
11. SOP during pledge
night.

15. Call each other Ate or

This is a common practice during PSYSC activities. This is to impose
respect to the participants.

This is the prescribed dress code during pledge nights. Wear all-white
because your kids will wear the same outfit too. This is to maximize
solemnity and the efect of the pledge night.
11.2 Help in crowd control.
Pledge night should be solemn so it is your responsibility to help the
staff in crowd control especially in candle lighting. This ceremony
should be as quiet and as organize as possible.

quarters are still presentable because there are unexpected visitors

such as participants and teachers.
17. Act appropriately to your age and
biological sex.
Since we are college students, make sure that your actions are
mature enough and appropriate to your biological sex. We are not
discriminating. This is to protect the name of the org. Avoid malicious,
violent and bitchy actions, outfits and looks.
18.
Enjoy
experience!

the

This is the ultimate PSYSC experience. Being a facilitator is acting

like a parent to your kids. You will learn a lot and discover a lot in
yourself. Even it will ex- haust your efort and power, it is worth it
because after five days of hard works, tears and stress, you
touched someones life and it will remain in their memories forever.
You will serve as their inspiration in pursuing their goals. Good luck
facilitators and may you enjoy this experience!
