For Samsung devices I would add Package Disabler Pro. Definitely app of the year.
permalinksavereportgive goldreplypocket
[]StopnFrisk 10 points 4 hours ago
Can't you just disable the apps from the app manager, or am I missing something else that app
does?
permalinksaveparentreportgive goldreplypocket
[]smeee 12 points 4 hours ago
No, many apps are prevented from being disabled through application manager including most of
the Samsung bloat.

There's a version of this on XDA, it's free but it uses a PC to send adb commands over a USB
cable to your device (so it's not an android app). Look for debloater on XDA.

My favorite and most used of 2015 is the settings app (the one that looks like a cogwheel). There I
find so many ways to change stuff on my device and the best thing is it's pre-installed. I can control
other applications like a god, get a battery graph and if developer options is enabled, I can even
draw on the screen without taking my finger off! If you're into modding and stuff you can even mess
with the CPU clock and voltage.

I can't help but feel that Android has gotten stale in the apps department.
I remember when I got my first Android phone 4 years ago. How there seemed like there was an
app for everything. And, there almost was. I'm not talking the polished apps we see on the store
today, but frankly if I felt I wanted some shitty app that replicated monkey sounds, there it was.
Sure, there weren't a lot of good apps, but it felt exciting, everyday there was something new.
Over the years, I used to constantly find myself typing into Google, "Best new apps of January,
Best of February..." and so on. Then, it became, best apps of Spring, Summer...
Nowadays, it's the same apps I've been hearing about for the last few years. Great, another app
that is pretty much twitter.
I know, I'm ranting, but the magic is completely gone. Nothing truly inspiring, the same cookie
cutter games, some miniscule new take on an already established app. I'm bored.

Here's their list, & my thoughts:
YouTube Music, YouTube Gaming, & Google Photos: has the usual Google flair consumers expect
but while all are very popular, besides Photos, I'm currently not using the other 2x.
HomeUX: an interesting launcher. I've been running Nova with no issues & fellow app owners will
agree it's made the user experience more efficient & customizable.
Pixolor: this app finds the color of an image. Useful for designers, kinda odd as this is on a 'List'
article.
SwiftKey Neural Alpha: a unique keyboard experiment from SwiftKey. They have 3 keyboards in
concurrent development, which is good business sense as they're very different from each other.
But this is an Alpha, again weird that it's on a 'Best of list."
AutoDash: this looks cool for car owners as it's a dash which compliments the relevant info we see
when we drive.
Robinhood: a nice looking Stock trading app. Again a weird inclusion.

Focus: finally, I've always wanted a new photo gallery app. Tried it after installing & the main
screen looks nice. Then opened a folder with large pics & gifs & it lagged before erm, focusing.
Restarted my tab & as before, Focus performed slower than my default gallery, QuickPic.
Native Clipboard: sounds abit like Inputting+ seen below? What really turned me off are the
screenshots which doesn't convey at all How the app works. Nice Material design but poor
marketing.
Hooks: an app that sends imperative notifications to your device. It has a collection of apps & news
sources. Interesting & I'll try it, though if my weather, news, app already sends me alerts- do I need
this?
Solid Explorer: already owned this before the new version. Split windows, fully featured, the best
file explorer imo!
Inputting+: can Save the things you type & Retains the texts that you 'copy.' It not compatible with
my rooted Note 2, but I've read some reviews & users are enjoying the app. However, I've been
using Clipper+ & Type Machine which is an alternative to Inputting+ for years & it's fantastic &
essential!
Cosmic Watch: for smart watches. If this one has been singled out, I'll definitely consider it once I
purchase a smart watch.
AppChat Alpha: scans your installed apps & allows you to communicate with other users that own
it too. Should be developed by Google to minimize App Support Service from consumers to devs.
Privacy is an issue for me, so if I have questions I'll just rather ask other users via Reddit for
example.
American Red Cross: preach! Good for AP on promoting such an important entity that focuses on
humanitarian well-being.
AmpliTube UA: a digital guitar accessory. AP must be guitarists or it's their growing hobbie. A
strange selection in a feature that does not have the word 'Music' on the title.
KISS Launcher: a 150 kilobyte launcher! Worth trying to me, I'll like to see how stable the devs
made this, considering patches (not feature upgrades) usually steadily shrink the size of the core
app. Idk if any launcher can top Nova though; if Nova has an app size issue then it'll receive more
attention.
Chainfire Systemless Root: it does what the name reflects. Did not test this but Chainfire is an
Android superstar!
permalinksavereportgive goldreplypocket
[]airconditioningunit 11 points 5 hours ago
This list is "favorite and most used apps" of individual members of AP, so including apps that not
everyone will have a use for is appropriate

For a quick app launcher, try AppGrouper by LifeBoatSoftware. A single icon launches a widget-like
screen with your favourite apps, grouped by a tabbed interface.
It is paid without any trial version, but it works great and it's basically the most used app on my
phone. When I have some time, I'll make a trial version of it. Send me a PM if you want to try it out
and I'll send you an apk.
