We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name The Controversy of the Lord • Consecration is about filling your place, your hands and feet fulfilling the calling of God in your life. • You submit to where the Holy Spirit has placed you in the body and you function. • Consecration is about position • Satan is sure that if he can keep us in grumbling, complaining, gossiping, backbiting that we will never fill our true position. We do these things because we believe those in that position aren’t supposed to be there. The Controversy of the Lord • You see if you’re not in the right place at the right time, you can’t fulfill your purpose. We talked about Joseph in Egypt. • Being in the right place is more than geographical, it is spiritually a mandate. An example of purpose can be found in Jacob being called back to his homeland. It has to do with divine prerogative. (Genesis 31.3,13) • 1 Corinthians 6.19,20 “ Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? And ye are not your own; for you have been bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.” The Controversy of Zion • The Corinthians understood the human market of slavery, the price paid was directly related to the value of the slave. Your natural man, you are dead to sin but you must deny self. Jacob is a perfect example of his position getting in the way of his Divine Purpose. • Even when he was getting ready to meet Esau, after his meeting at Peniel, still trying to make secondary plans. You don’t need secondary plans when the Lord goes before you. Genesis 33.4 “Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck and kissed him.” God had already made “Jacob’s Purpose” happen, it was now Jacob that had to get in position. The Controversy of Zion Perfection • Will we ever mature? The enemy wants to keep reminding us of who we are, we need to remind him of who is in us. • Isaiah 35. 3,4 “ Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be Strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. The Controversy of Zion Perfection • Hebrews 5.14 “ but strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” • Discernment is not just about spiritual warfare, it is the function of the Spirit that brings us to our purpose.
