The Basic Beginnings 2 • Last Week we ministered on a. Haggai 2.9 “The latter would be greater than that of the former” The former in our case is historically the prophetic fulfillment of Joel 2.28, we know this because that Peter revealed this to us ( Acts 2.16-20 )in his sermon on the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Ghost fell and every nation under heaven was introduced to finished works of God in Jesus. What ever the tongues were, whether in the language of heaven or every dialect, what was heard was translated to them in their own language. The Basic Beginnings 2 • “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and you sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: and on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: The Basic Beginnings 2 • Facts: • A universal language now established in the earth. • Prophetic fulfillment of the words of Jesus concerning an impartation to get the work done • Jesus said that “He was with them but the Holy Ghost would be in them.” The Basic Beginnings 2 • This impartation was to enable the church to be connected to the person of Jesus. This indwelling would enable the believer to be conformed into the “image of Christ”. This is the only type of “predestination”( Romans 8.29) spoken of in the New Testament. The predestination of “adoption” ( Ephesians 1.5) and the “purpose” (Ephesians 1.11)of God will come to pass. The Basic Beginnings 2 b. Glory and Peace bound to be entwined inside of this latter house. We are the latter house of which the eternal plan of God will be fulfilled. c. Faith has been supplanted by “Belief Systems”, these belief systems all put in place to create the buy in effect on man for the denomination of their choice. Belief has become propositional and subject to change. The Basic Beginnings 2 • Faith is putting God in charge and reflects our surrender and trust in His Word. Faith is an action word based on the God who is there. • We have discussed the reformation and the renewal periods of the 20th century. We have spoken of revival and the need for a life changing experience by each person. The latter house has an expectation, not based on an imitation of the Early Church, the acts of the apostles and comparative notes of performance. The Basic Beginnings • What we need is a “Return”, a change of direction if you will, a change of heart, we have left the source of the very life that we preach. • We don’t need a reform, a cosmetic change, a new idealism, we need an old, old, story that has stood the test of time to be re-enacted upon our hearts. A return that will cause “rivers of living waters to flow from us”, our flow being increased because of the measure of Jesus in us.” The Basic Beginnings 2 • Have you noticed, that we are only getting so far and then we run into this brick wall, decade after decade, a cycle that must end. • The Three Major Schools of Church Operation • The Words of Jesus • Sola Scriptura • The Age of the Spirit The Basic Beginnings 2 • Pentecostalism is the fastest growing movement in the world. • In the early 1900’s, 90% of all Pentecostals were in the United States and Europe. • In 1990, 70% of all Pentecostals are in Africa, Asia and Latin America. This means that Pentecostalism and the growth are now black, yellow and brown. The Basic Beginnings 2 • They are creating communities of believers that are experiencing Jesus in a real way. Here is a fact, they are almost all poor but have an exchanged life that brings them purpose and birthright. • The Bible speaks of these times as being especially deceptive. I think that Satan has thrown a curve to the western church and that we are beating the air in many cases. The Basic Beginnings 2 • In my times of trouble I began to ask the Lord what has happened or what is up with and for us. I want to share my vision or dream with you concerning this area. • I believe that Satan is trying to confuse this generation in matters of the Spirit. I believe that he has tried to supplant the eternal plan of God in Jesus with a program that is spiritual in nature but lacks the power thereof. The Basic Beginnings • The age of the Spirit has brought much confusion in the menagerie of idealisms as to how the Spirit operates. We have focused on spiritual gifts, motivational, ministry and trying to differentiate who has them. We have focused on tongues as a sign of spiritual maturity, when in fact it is not. There are many warnings in the New Testament concerning the spiritual. The Basic Beginning 2 • The enemy has tried to plant a sub-culture inside of the church as it relates to matters of the Spirit. People, who are spirit filled have made the mistake of thinking that after baptism of the Holy Ghost that now the life lived and the decisions made are in conference between them and the Holy Ghost. The Basic Beginnings 2 • This is a deception, the Holy Ghost will only verify and confirm the finished work of Jesus Christ in a persons life. It is Jesus life and His words that will set a person free. • It is a deception to think that the Spirit in your life has the pre-eminence over the words of Jesus. The Holy Ghost doesn’t play with giving identity or glory to anything but God’s plan in Jesus. The Basic Beginnings 2 • Matters of the Spirit will never take precedence over the foundational principles of God’s Word. • Freedoms are taken inside of spiritual matters because deception has convinced people that you can’t question statements are actions that have the word “spirit” in front of them. • The Spirit of God will never initiate an agenda, mission or vision that is not in the Bible. The Basic Beginnings • We are experiencing a deficiency in matters of power because that power is relative to nature. The nature of the name of Jesus must be recognized in order for power to be seen. • This phenomena has caused the individual to become the center of the spiritual result and not the glory of God. Hebrews 4.12,13 The Basic Beginnings • Why is the black, brown, yellow church experiencing such glory. • They don’t talk about the Hellenistic culture, the influence of reason and humanistic idealisms have never infiltrated their minds because they haven’t been injected like the west was, they depend on the works and words of Jesus to set them free and empower them. The Basic Beginnings 2 • They realize that miracles, signs and wonders are natural by products of a life lived in the Spirit after the person of Jesus. • They realize that only the life of the church can bring the structure needed inside of a church. • They realize that spiritual matters must be and will be judged. We have been deceived into thinking you can’t judge anything that has the word “spirit led” in front of it. I tell you that is what needs judged the most. The Basic Beginnings 2 • A return to the mission and vision that Jesus left the church will open the flood gates of signs that follow believers. • A new emphasis on the social and political ills of our society • A return to the words of Jesus to tarry until we be endued with power from on High. • A humbling and repentance that need not be repented of
