Methodology for TAM Grouting for

ChandPole Gate

of Work: - To execute the Tam Grouting for Soil

Stabilization of Chandpole Gate, during construction of tunnel by TBM


method.

Drilling bit 150/100 mm dia, 3 nos.
Drilling Rod 1.5mtr, 14 nos.
Grout Pump motor 20HP (1 Numbers).
Mixing Unit with 7HP Motor, 3 bags Capacity.
Air Compressor-450 CFM (1 Numbers).
Tam Pipe 48 mm (1 Lot).

Activities in Brief

Tam Grouting shall be carried out prior to TBM activity to Strength the
ground/Soil strata as per the design requirement

Working Area Shall be barricaded and ground leveling for placement of
equipment.

All utilities diversions over heads and below ground shall be checked for
any obstructions.
Proper Plat-form for cement stacking min 50 bags shall be done.
Survey and marking of points
The working platform shall be mark as per survey coordinates, the
location of drilling grout holes shall be marked as coordinates
mentioned in the drawing.
The hole of TAM grout shall be arranged in staggered pattern.
Drilling to required depth as per drawing
The drilling of TAM grouting Holes shall be carried out using 90-110 drilling
bit with air flushing arrangement the drilling depth should maintained as
the attached drawing.
The drilling rig shall be setup at survey marked points .the drilling
activates shall be dry drilling with compressed air to remove the soil
and muck from drilled hole
After each drill hole location TAM grout pipe is installed the rig shall
be taken to another location point at least one hole from each bore
location.
Minimum 3 hours time is required for each drilling hole activity and
shall not be stopped during the period, as is susceptible to collapse.
Fabrication and lowering of TAM Pipes
The TAM grouting Pipe used for grouting in stages shall be made of
PVC. The full length of PVC Pipe shall be drilled with 5 to 10 mm slot
holes with spacing of 05 meter hole interval
The each Length of TAM grouting of PVC pipe is 6 m Length with
threads both end and connected socket and glow
The PVC tam pipe allow the Injection of grout from individual
sleeve
The annuals surrounding the PVC pipe shall packed with good
cement mortar.
TAM grouting
Grouting is the process of filling voids, cavities and pore spaces of soil with
grout by replacement of water or air penetrated in ground soil.
Grout Mix Design
The proposed grout mix design shall be
Cement (OPC 53) -50 kg,
Water -40 - 50 kg (W/C-0.8 to 1.0)
Admixture 0.5 % BWOC
NCG 225 grams per cement bag
The grout Shall be pumped to required pressure 5 to 6 kg /cm 2
the grout pressure required for cracking of TAM sleeve shall be
higher than the specified limits mentioned above

Grouting stage sequence

Grouting of each TAM pipe shall be carried out in ascending stage of


5 meters.
The packer shall be first placed at bottom leaving 5 meter depth
grout Zone at bottom.
The packer shall be inflated with packer pump and preparation for
grouting shall be started
Grout shall be started with mix as stated above and continue till
pressure builds up (or) grout coming on surface.
Packer inflation shall be released and packer shall be raised further
up 5 meter above and steps repeated till completed hole is grouted
The packer assembly shall be washed and move to next hole
location for carrying out grouting in ascending stage as defined
above.
