1 minute UserTracks template

This file is all you need to make a working Band-in-a-Box UserTrack! This file
was designed to work well with Pop/Rock/Country styles. If you want to make a j
azz UserTrack, we have a different template for that. The steps you can take to
make the UserTrack are:
1. Pick the style and tempo you want to record at, and give your UserTrack a na
me
By default we have a "Dreamy Pop Quintet" style loaded, with a tempo of 120, but
you can pick ANY style at ANY tempo. At 120bpm, the file will be just over a m
inute long. At faster tempos it will be less than a minute, and at slower tempo
s it will be more than a minute.
To name your UserTrack, place the folder in the UserTracks directory (default fo
r Windows: C:\bb\RealTracks\UserTracks\, default for Mac: /Applications/Band-i
n-a-Box/RealTracks/UserTracks), and rename the folder to the name of your style,
for example, "Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Pop Ev 110".
2. Play and record your instrument. For Windows, you can record right in Bandin-a-Box on the audio track by pressing the "Record Audio" button (if you're usi
ng RealBand, you can record your audio on any unused audio track). You can also
use any other DAW by dragging the backing tracks into the other DAW, and you ca
n then do your recording there. For Mac, this is the only option, so for exampl
e you could drag the individual backing tracks into Garageband. If you're using
a microphone to record, make sure you're using headphones to listen to the back
ing tracks so they don't bleed into your microphone. If you're using an electri
c guitar or bass plugged right into your computer, you don't need to worry about
that.
3. When you are finished recording, save the audio track you recorded in the fo
lder with the same filename as the Band-in-a-Box song. It is important that bot
h the Band-in-a-Box (.sgu) file and the audio file have the same name. For Wind
ows, the audio file can be .wav or .wma. For Mac, the audio file can be .aif, .
aiff, .mp3, .m4a, or .wav. If you want your UserTracks to be able to work for W
indows AND Mac users, .wav is the best option, since it works for both.
If you're recording right in Band-in-a-Box for Windows using the template .sgu f
ile, saving the song will ALSO save a wave file with the same name, so that's al
l you have to do. If you're recording in RealBand, Garageband, or any other DAW
, you need to just export the track you recorded as an audio file.
4. Use your completed UserTrack by pressing the "UserTracks" button! It will a
utomatically be included as an option in Band-in-a-Box as long as you've correct
ly saved the two files in the correct location, for example:
RealTracks\UserTracks\Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Pop Ev 110\Song_1m_Pop_1.SGU
RealTracks\UserTracks\Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Pop Ev 110\Song_1m_Pop_1.WAV (
or wma, m4a, aif, etc.)
When you use the style for the first time, additional files will be created, inc
luding bt1, bt2, & text files. These files should just be left there. The text
files can be edited to add things like memos and additional information for you
r specific UserTrack.
You CAN record additional material for your UserTracks style by also recording o
ther templates, and placing the .sgu+wav files in the same folder with this one.
You can pick and choose which ones you want to record, and this added material
will give your style things like:

-song endings
-additional material for greater diversity in your style
-additional common chords like sus, dim
-additional jazzy chords like maj7, m7, m7b5, etc.
-additional less common chords like 7b9, 13, mmaj7, etc.
You can also create your OWN chord progressions to add to your UserTracks style!
Just make your own custom progression in Band-in-a-Box, record along with that
chord progression, and save the .sgu+.wav in the same folder as this file, and
Band-in-a-Box will automatically add that material to the UserTrack when it is u
sed.
