Semntica generativa

La semntica generativa es el nombre de un programa de investigacin en el campo de


la lingstica, iniciado con la obra de varios alumnos de Noam Chomsky de sus primeras
pocas: John R. Ross, Paul Postal y, ms adelante, James McCawley. George
Lakoff tambin fue importante en la defensa de la teora.
Este enfoque evolucion a partir de la gramtica generativa transformacional a mediados
de la dcada de 1960, pero se mantuvo por fuera (e incluso en contra) de la obra deNoam
Chomsky y de sus alumnos posteriores. Esta evolucin llev a un marco ms abstracto y,
posteriormente, a abandonar la nocin de estructura profunda.
Algunas ideas originadas en el trabajo posterior en semntica generativa se integraron en
la lingstica cognitiva, gramtica sintagmtica nuclear (HPSG, por sus siglas en
ingls), Construccin Gramtica, y tambin en la lingstica chomskyana. 1
