Montage
Description:

When I went back to visit Japan in 2013, I made it a point

to visit the Three Views of Japan, because one of them
(Matsushima) was in my mission. This is a picture I took with
my fathers fancy Nikon camera. I cropped it to 8.5 x 11. I
then had to think about what I was going to base the picture
around (i.e. whether I would go for Shinto or go with a more
naturalistic religious point of view.) I went with Shinto, think
that not many in the class would. I looked for a Shinto priest
in traditional clothing, and placed him close to the setting
sun. I tried to mask him so that his face would be at 100% and
then gradually he would fade into the ocean. Initially, it was
a struggle, but I was able to make it work and got the finished
product I wanted. I initially used a hard brush to get all the
background image away (it was white, and kind of distracting
from the brick, gold and blue color scheme.) and then used
gradual 75%, 50%, 25%, and finally 10% to blend the priest into
the mountain side and ocean.

Create a Shinto Montage

Use the basic tools of Photoshop

Process:

I used Adobe Photoshop for this project. I initially used a hard

brush to get all the background image away (it was white, and
kind of distracting from the brick, gold and blue color scheme.)
and then used gradual 75%, 50%, 25%, and finally 10% to blend
the priest into the mountain side and ocean. I used the color
burn tool for the text.

Logo
Description:

My dream is to one day work for a sports team, and hopefully

be on the C level (CEO, CMO, CFO, etc.) of said sports team.
Major League Soccer is looking to expand and create teams in
Minneapolis, MN and San Antonio, TX. I thought it would
be fun if I made a logo for one of those teams. These are 3
different looks, that incorporate being from Texas (everything
is bigger in Texas, American Color scheme, Lone Star, Texas
Flag, etc.) as well as incorporate a MLS theme.

Program(s)/Tool(s):

Adobe Illustrator and Adobe PhotoShop

Objectives:

Create a logo using Illustrator

Process:

I used Illustrator as well as a little Photoshop to create these

logos. Illustrator as well as Photoshop are very unique and
intricate skills to have. Using them both together can create a
masterpiece.

Brochure
Description:

This is a brochure I made for a possible future profession I

might have. I am planning on going to law school to eventually
go into sports and sports law. One day I may open my own
sports agency and I need to have a brochure that advertises
only the best aspects of why my agency would be the premium
option for aspiring professional athletes.

Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word

Objectives:

Create a brochure using InDesign

Use the basic tools of Photoshop

Process:

I used InDesign for the layout of the brochure, I used

PhotoShop to lasso the photos down from their original state,
I also used Microsoft Word to initially type up my paragraphs
ensuring that there were no spelling errors.

Program(s)/Tool(s):
Microsoft Word

Objectives:

Scan an image and create a poster in Microsoft Word

Process:

While I was cleaning my room, I found magazine that had been

given to me by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The
image is of one of the characters that composes the cross and
is meant to make someones burden light. I chose then the
colors based on what Visual Focus has taught me. (I will go
more in depth about color scheme down further on the page)
I used Word, and was pleasantly surprised at what it could do,
considering I was under the impression that Word only was
used for writing and some Clip Art and Word Art

Program(s)/Tool(s):

I used InDesign, NotePad++, and Photoshop.

Objectives:

Create an html based document

Integrate the logo that was created in a previous project.

Process:

I relied on our activity for some of the code. Especially the for
the background color, the banners and the text color. I really
liked what I saw in the activity, and used it as a skeleton for my
code. I then googled how to center the logo and made sure my
logo was centered in its section.
I learned that html, while a difficult concept, can be easily
learned from skeleton activities like the one we completed
before. Despite facing early challenges to make the code
work, looking to the skeleton activity and copying (more like
imitating) some of the code to make work. I compared and
contrasted.

Program(s)/Tool(s):
Adobe Photoshop

Objectives:

Create and edit an image to create something from a simple

photo.

Process:

Our first assignment this week was to take some photographs

using sunlight. One of the reasons I chose this photo was
because of the color scheme aspect to this assignment. The
gold/tan wall in my apartment contrasts perfectly in a split
complementary way with the Dodger Blue and the Giants
Orange (it is really a brick color.) I used a digital camera
(Canon PowerShot SD940 IS) to capture the image. We were
then asked to focus on 4 specific editing tools in Photoshop.
Namely, levels, sharpness, saturation, and color balance. I also
experimented with other editing tools such as the sharpener
on the middle picture because many of the logos were slightly
blurred. I then fit the image to an 8.5 x 11. I made sure to keep
the colors handy in my swatch. And just like baseball, a very
simple, yet detailed oriented photo was created.
