1.0 INTRODUCTION
This document covers the system description, Design Philosophy and Control &
Instrumentation Philosophy for Cooling Water System for 2X600MW JINDAL INDIA TPL.

2.0 CW SYSTEM - GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND SCOPE:

Reference Drawing:
P & ID - COOLING WATER SYSTEM PE-DG-324-165-N001
2.1 Customer to provide cold Condenser cooling water through four pipes of 1800 NB each with
adequate parameters at terminal point at TG building A row column and hot water from
condenser shall be return to terminal points at TG building A row column through four
pipes of 1800 NB each. Scope beyond terminal points shall be in customer scope.
The BHEL scope is within terminal points as shown in the P&ID and shall comprise of:
a. Piping from & up to Customer terminal points
b. Electrically operated BF Valves and pressure balanced RE Joints at CW inlet & outlet
nozzles of condenser.
c. Condenser (in BHEL HWR scope)
d. Instrumentation as shown in the P&ID.

3.0 CW SYSTEM DESIGN CRITERIA:

3.1 CW Pipes
3.1.1 The Pipe sizes are calculated for System design flow considering velocity up to 2 M/Sec.
3.1.2 The friction loss in pipes shall be calculated as per William & Hazen formula as under:
