News from Staff Parish

Relations Committee

We want to share with you that our church leaders

and staff just learned that Rev. Amy Gearhart will be
leaving MUMC at the end of June to take a sabbatical
leave to pursue doctorate studies at MU in higher
education and administration. A new Senior Pastor
will be appointed to MUMC by our Bishop, starting on
Sunday, June 28. Unlike an academic sabbatical, Rev.
Amy will not return to MUMC as our pastor. Instead,
she hopes to continue her ministry beyond the local
church as a teacher and administrator. Well have
many opportunities to thank Amy and her family for her
service and leadership with us. I hope youll join us in
praying for her family through this time of transition
as she enjoys spring break vacation and will lead us
in worship on Palm Sunday next week. If you have
any questions, please contact me or any of the church
leaders.Roy Robinson, SPRC Chair

The Pastors Corner

What Will the Kids Do Easter Morning at Missouri UMC?

By Rev. Hank Jenkins,Youth Pastor & Nancy Cooper, Childrens and Family Life Leader
t is hard to believe 2015 is going be so fast! It seems like only
Iyesterday
we were celebrating the Christmas season here
at Missouri United Methodist Church. However, recently, we
have been blessed with warmer, spring like weather and the
thought of cold temperatures and snow is quickly fading from
our memories. As the year marches forward, all of our local
students will be celebrating spring break this upcoming week as
college students and local families will be packing up their cars
and looking forward to much needed time away.
Once everyone returns from their destinations, it will be time
for us to come together and celebrate Holy Week. We will
kick off Holy Week with the annual Palm Parade in downtown
Columbia. Every year Missouri UMC joins other downtown
churches as we process out of our building at 10 a.m. and
march along with our fellow Christians to the intersection of
Broadway and 9th Streets. Our acolytes will play a large role
in leading our congregation toward downtown. Once there
we hold a united service and commemorate the time when
Jesus triumphantly entered Jerusalem. It is always a wonderful
sight to see children, youth and adults from the different
denominations join together, waving their palm branches and
joining together in Christian love and unity.
Our children and youth have also played a large role in
preparing for our Good Friday presentation of The Stations of
The Cross. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Good Friday, members
from the community, as well as our own church members, will

be welcomed into the first floor of our Christian Life Center

(CLC) to walk through 12 different stations representing the
last days of Jesus Christ on Earth and his eventual death and
resurrection. The Children and Youth from MUMC will prepare
four of the different stations will represent Peters denial, Jesus
being nailed to the cross, Jesus taking his last breath on the
cross and our human need to let go of sin and burden in our
lives. We invite you to come out and experience the work that
children and youth, as well as many other groups from the
church, have done to put together this touching experience.
Easter Sunday morning will be filled with excitement and
celebration so we will be doing something different in
Childrens Sunday School that morning. Children in grades K-5
will participate in an all church scavenger hunt where they will
learn more about our church by visiting different places in the
church. At each place they will learn more about what takes
place there and will receive an Easter egg filled with a small
reminder of what they have learned. Parents are encouraged to
attend with their children. Who knows, maybe they will learn
something new too! Children will check-in as usual and head to
their regular classroom. There they will receive a clue to their
first destination. At each spot, they will find an additional clue
to keep them moving around the church. Their final clue will
lead them to a special place where they will hear the Easter
story told by Jim Bryant. Children will be dismissed from the
Atrium in the CLC.

Quarterly Statements

MUMC has moved recently to a new online information system, Church Community Builder or CCB, for storing member
information including contributions. We encourage everyone to visit https://moumc.ccbchurch.com where you can access your giving
record anytime. On April 1, we will email you a reminder, much like your bank or credit card, letting you know that your first quarter
giving statement is ready for viewing and providing a link through which you can access it. Viewing your statement online saves on
postage and processing, monies that can be used instead for the churchs ministries. We understand that some still prefer a printed
statement. To receive yours by mail, please mark the tear-off today or contact the church office.

After Easter, dont miss
