for RPM, torque, temperature, etc., etc.
PC is data logger gets RPM and other
values mirrored in real-time from PC card

Goal
Currently no real working machine tool

S7 software simulates actual production environment

We currently have a sample software program for S7-1500

controls various motors and tools
determines expected and real RPM, torque, progress, etc.
S7-1500 is only controller (ProfiNET-Master in Siemens speak)

We purchased PCI card

Needs to be configured as slave (ProfiNET-Device in Siemens speak)

Needs to be registered in S7-1500 program
S7-1500 program needs to map/mirror/copy data read from machine into PC card

PC has software running capable of reading a all memory blocks from PC

card in real-time and log data to file

Preparation - I
Download/install Siemens TIA Portal V13
Import GSDML (device description) into TIA Portal V13

Start Step7 software, go to Extras there should be devices

Open provided project archive into Step7

Start Step7 Retrieve project upgrade project to latest Step7 is fine

Change main CPU from 1515-2 PN to 1511-1 PN

Open Devices & networks select PCL_2

Open Hardware catalog on right side and navigate to CPU 1511-1 PN
Drag CPU onto PLC_2 and confirm

Add Hilscher PC card CIFX to project

In Hardware catalog deselect Filter and search Hilscher

Navigate to
Add cifx re/pns

Preparation - II
Add/drag Hilscher PC card CIFX
to project
In Hardware catalog deselect
Filter and search Hilscher or
cifx
Add CIFX RE/PNS V3.5.35 V3.5.x
There are multiple variants, make
sure it is V3.5.35 V3.5.x

Once the PC card is added, you

can connect its ProfiNET
network to the PLC network

Preparation - III
Open Devices and Network
again and double-click the PC Card
On the far right, open
Hardware catalog
Device data (slider) (also called
Device Overview)

From the module section in the

hardware catalog, drag

as many input modules

as many output modules
To the Module column in the device
overview pane; you can select the
type of the input/output as well

Tasks
Find a way to mirror the data in any of the PLC variables to an input or
output data in the newly configured PC card input or output module
You can also start by doing a empty project from scratch and try to
make it work there first.
