bitterness the Heart that loves me so and has spared no effort to attain my love? How great has been my

trulythePerpetualHelpofalltheunfortunatewhohaverecoursetoHer.Consider,however,thatthereisone
classofunfortunatesforwhomthemostlovingMotherseemstoreserveHermosttenderglancesandwhom
ShemakesthespecialobjectofHermostcompassionateconcern.Theyarethepoorsinnersanditiseasyto
understandthereasonbehindthatpredilection.
Thegreaterthemisfortuneofachildthemorematernalloveincreases.Wellthen,whatgreatermisfortuneis
therethanthatofbeingseparatedfromJesusandbeingchainedtotheshamefulslaveryofthedevil?Bylosing
sanctifyinggracetheunhappyonehasmadehimselfthetargetofdivineanger.TheireofGodclamorsagainst
himand,ifdeathshouldsurprisehim,oh,whatacalamity!Hislotwouldbeamongthereprobate.
ThatiswhythekindestofmotherspoursoutonHerchildren,thesinners,allthetreasuresofthemercyand
tendernessofHermaternalHeart.SheattractsthemwiththesweetnessofHernameMotherofPerpetual
