Book Selfie
Objective: To portray and share ones love to books in a more creative
and hit manner.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to all year levels. Each section must have
one representative per week for the said contest.
2. The participants should provide their own phones or other
mediums that can be used for taking photos.
3. Each participant will take a photo of himself or herself with the
book he or she prefers to advertise.
4. Photos will be posted in Instagram, and the participants must tag
futurehearted and carmela.ann for judging.
5. Caption will not exceed 140 characters.
6. Winners of the said contest will be announced every week,
Monday.
7. Be advised that winners will depend upon the selfie itself and
number of likes.

Spelling Bee
Objective: To enhance ones vocabulary and memory skills.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to all year levels. Each section must have
one representative.
2. The contest proper will have four rounds.
3. The first round will be the commonly misspelled words. This round
is composed of twenty (20) words. The second round will be the
scientific words and will be composed of fifteen (15) words. The
third round will be contemporary book terms. These terms can be
found in contemporary books which will be announced on the day
of the contest. Ten (10) words will be given on this round. And the
fourth round will be tongue twisters, composing of seven (7)
words.
4. Ten (10) seconds is allotted for the first round, fifteen (15)
seconds for the second and third round, and thirty (30) seconds
for the fourth round.
5. In the first round, each correct spelling is worth one (1) point. In
the second, each is worth two (2) points. In the third, each is
worth three (3) points and for the fourth each is worth five (5)
points.

6. The words will be said twice, along with its origin and definition.
Upon the discretion of the quizmaster/s, a sample sentence may
be given.
7. The contestant with the highest score wins.

GramLit Trivia Contest


Objective: To test the students' knowledge about different grammar,
language and literature-related questions.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to all year levels. Each section must have
one representative.
2. The contest proper will have four rounds.
3. The first round will be the romantic period. The third round will be
about the gothic period, and the second and fourth rounds will be
about grammar.
4. Each round will have a maximum of fifteen (15) questions.
5. Time allotment for each question will be at the discretion of the
quizmaster/s.
6. Each question will have a corresponding point. On the first round,
each correct answer will be given two (2) points. While on the
second round, each correct answer will be given one (1) point.
Two (2) points will be given for each correct answer on the third
round. And three (3) points for the fourth round.
7. The contestant with the highest score wins.

Comprehension Test
Objective: To measure ones ability to grasp the main idea and
important details of a given selection by means of visual, audio, and
audio-visual.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to all year levels. Each section must have a
representative for the said contest.
2. The contest will have three rounds: Visual, Audio, and AudioVisual.
3. In the beginning of the Visual round, a picture will be shown to the
contestants. The comprehension questions will only be based on
the given photo.
4. To measure the listening abilities of the participants, a song will
be played twice on the Audio round. Afterwards, the questions will
be given.
5. A combination of photographic and listening skills will then be
tested in the Audio-Visual round wherein the basis of questions is
from a video that will be played before the round starts.
6. The top three scorers of the comprehension test shall be declared
winners.

Song and Line Delivery Contest


Objective: To test ones skill in interpretation and potential in creative
reading.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to grades 7 and 8 only. Each section must
have a representative for the said contest.
2. The participants will be given one song and a line from a
book/movie upon entry to the Language room.
3. The contestants must be able to say the lines creatively in 15
minutes each.
4. The criteria for judging will be the following:

Poetry Slam
Objective: To build ones poetry writing skills, interpretation and ability
to organize ideas and facts.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to grade 9 and 10 only. Each section must
have a representative for the said contest.
2. At the start of the contest, an officer will reveal the topic of the
poem to be made ON THE SPOT by the contestants.
3. The criteria for judging will be the following:

4. The contestant with the highest score in the final judging shall be

DigiHeART Contest
Objective: To test ones skill in interpretation of text and creativity in
digital art
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to all year levels. Each section must have
one representative for the said contest.
2. The participants should provide the following materials: clean
sheets of paper (for scratch), pencils (for sketching) and laptop or
any electronic device for editing.
3. At the start of the contest, an officer will reveal a certain quote
from a book. This will serve as the basis and theme for the
participants digital art.
4. The participants will have at most an hour and a half to do the
digital art.
5. The digital art must be an original work.
6. Submission of the draft must be within the time range given.

7. Drafts will be returned after pre-judging. Any student from the


class may edit the picture using any commercially available image
editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Paint Tool SAI, etc.).
8. The contestant with the highest score in the final judging shall be
declared winner.

Oration and Declamation


Objective: To test ones skill in public speaking and artistic expression
and interpretation.
Oratorical Delivery Contest Guidelines:
1. This contest is open for Grade 7 and Grade 8 students only.
Each section must have a representative for the said contest.
2. The representative/participant must be at the contest venue 15
minutes before the time. Failure to comply will lead to
disqualification.
3. The piece that will be used for the contest will be the one given by
the CADAS Society ONLY. It will be announced 2 weeks before
the contest.
4. Contestants can wear costumes but props are NOT ALLOWED to
be used in the said contest.
5. The contestant is given 6 minutes to recite the oration piece.
Every excess of 5 seconds will result to 2 points deduction to the
over-all score.

7. The judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be


entered into.

Film Festival
Objective: To build ones ability in script writing and test ones artistic
and dramatic skills.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to grades 7 and 8 only.
2. There would be two rounds: the Eliminations (Scriptwriting) and
Finals (Film Showing). Each section will produce a script that
would be passed on November 13, 2014. The announcement of
winners would be on November 16, 2014.
3. Contestants are free to choose from a.) fan fiction b.) change a
scene or ending in a book c.) a certain characters point of view,
as the subject for their films.
4. Contestants are mandated to follow the format of the script which
consists of the following:
One (1) to Three (3) acts with Two (2) to Three (3) scenes
each act

Stage direction in brackets


Names of Characters must be in BOLD and CAPITAL
LETTERS followed by a period (.) and the line of the
character. Example: TOBIAS. I am Number Four.
Font: Times New Roman, 12

5. Three (3) copies would be submitted in a short brown envelope.
6. The script must be an original work.
7. Submission of the script must be within the time range given.
8. A receiving copy will be provided by the officers. The sections
must fill up ALL of the information given. In case of losing the
receiving copy, a downloadable file will be provided in the
Facebook page. Grade 7 must have PINK colored paper while
Grade 8 must have BLUE colored paper. The copy will be passed
along with the script.
9. The criteria for judging the script are as follows:

Among 15 sections of grades 7 and 8, seven participants

are allowed to join the second and final round (Film Showing).
11.

The film entries should only have a range of 10-15 minutes.

12.

The film showing will be held on the Culminating Day,

November 27, 2015. Popularity factor will be based from the


number of tickets per film fest entries. Each ticket is worth 75
centavos.

13.

Prior to the performance, the section must submit a list

consisting of their roles in the play (printed on short bond paper).


An example will be posted on the Facebook page.

The list shall be passed on or before November 23, 2015,

5:15 in the afternoon.

Take note that the scripts of the seven finalists will be pre-

judged before the culminating day.

Speech Choir
Objective: To test ones ability in artistic speaking, interpretation, selfconfidence, and dramatic skills.
Mechanics:
1. This contest is open to all Grade 9 and Grade 10 levels only.
Each section must participate in this contest.
2. There shall be one (1) contest piece. The piece that will be used
is Peace not War by Patricia Lithuanian.
3. The dynamic (theatrical) speech choir shall be observed. The
choir must deliver each piece following the given criteria of
judging.
4. Participants shall act and portray themselves as characters in the
team they are in. For example, those who are in the Demigod
team shall act and portray themselves as demigods.
5. Choreographers are strictly prohibited. The sections who will hire
choreographers, with or without payment, will be disqualified.

Eliminations:
6. The class shall only be permitted to be in their REGULAR or P.E.
UNIFORMS. Costumes, props and backdrops are allowed in the
Finals only.
7. The section must perform the FIRST PART of the piece only.
8. All of the criteria EXCEPT Overall Impact will be judged in the
Eliminations. (Refer below for the criteria)
9. Their performance has a time range of 5-10 minutes, including the
entrance, exit and cleaning.

Usage of percussions is allowed.

Finals

Only the qualifiers of the first round are allowed to join the

Final round.

The piece used in the Eliminations shall be the piece to be

used in the Finals.

Their performance must only be within 15-20 minutes,

including the entrance, exit and cleaning.

Performance is on Culminating Day.

The criteria for judging are as follows:


Originality (uniqueness of the performance) - 20%

Interpretation (connotations, connecting the piece to


the team, internalization of the piece and

Delivery (voice quality, fluency, pronunciation,
blending and harmony) - 20%
Stage Presence (alertness, attentiveness, eye
contact, facial expressions) - 15%

Overall Impact (costume, props, audience impact) 10%

The section with the highest number of points shall be

declared winner.

Showcase of Emblems
Objective: To develop creativity in MunScians through the creation of
emblems with certain materials.
Mechanics:
1. All teams must have a banner with the size 6ft by 10ft.
2. The teams must provide their own materials for the banner. There
is no restriction on the materials to be used for the banner itself,
as long as it complies with the size requirement and is made
manually.
3. Each week, the banners will be monitored and checked for prejudging. Every Friday, there must be a visible progress on the
banner.
4. Final banner must be submitted on or before November 23,
5:30pm. Banners not checked-in before 5:30pm will not be
accepted.
