Belt Cleaner

Tensioned gently against the belt, the MARTIN SAF-2 Belt

Cleaner removes carryback without damage to belt, splices, or
cleaning edge. Using its unique, low-pressure deflected blade
design, the MARTIN SAF-2 Belt Cleaner is the cleaning system
suitable for any conveyor, even worst-case belts.

Low-pressure cleaning means urethane blades provide
lasting service. For more challenging conditions, specify
tungsten carbide inserts.

No Tool Blade Replacement

Release one clamp and pull one pin to remove blade
cartridge from mainframe. Individual three-inch wide
(76-mm) blades slide out easily; replacement blades
slide into cartridge for fast, simple service.
Gauge Blades Indicate Proper Pressure
Shorter blades on each end of mainframe provide visual
indication of adequate cleaning pressure.
Minimal Adjustment
As blades wear, the inherent shape memory of urethane automatically compensates so contact and pressure remain fairly constant. This extends service life
and reduces maintenance.

Fast, Simple Installation

Compact, flexible clamp mount design allows positioning inside or outside chute, or on an open conveyor.
Typical installation takes 90 to 120 minutes.

MARTIN SAF-2 Belt Cleaner

TECHNICAL DATA

HoW IT WORKS
The MARTIN SAF-2 Cleaner must be installed against
the belt at a point where the belt is supported by the
head pulley or restrained from lifting by a suitable holddown.
Cleaner assemblies with Urethane Blades include two
gauge blades; cleaners with Tungsten Carbide Blades
use one gauge blade.
The cleaner is tensioned by pushing it up so the blades
contact the belt, and then slightly higher. The assembly is raised until the longer gauge blades of urethane
assemblies, or the individual gauge blades of tungsten
carbide blade assemblies touch the belt. This deflects
the cleaning blades in the direction of belt travel and
ensures desired cleaning pressure against the belt.
As blades wear, the springy resilience of the urethane
allows the blades to self-adjust, standing taller to
maintain performance and minimize maintenance.
Application Guidelines
The MARTIN SAF-2 Belt Cleaner can be installed with
the Standard Clamp Mount on enclosed chute work or
open pulleys on conveyors with belt speeds up to 600
fpm (3.0 m/sec).

Specify Tungsten Carbide Blades (P/N 33847-XXT) for

longer life in abrasive conditions.

Specify the MARTIN SAF-2 Heavy-Duty Clamp Mount

(P/N 35391) for severe-duty mine-grade applications
with belt speeds up to 800 f/min (4.1 m/sec), or
where the belt is more than 60 inches (1500 mm)
wide, or where the belt is subjected to continuing vibration. See your Martin Engineering representative for
additional information.

Specify Urethane Blades with slits (P/N 33847-XXS)

for applications on belts with ribs, cleats, or chevrons.
The MARTIN SAF-2 Belt Cleaner can be installed
against the conveyors discharge pulley at approximately
the 6 oclock position, or along the conveyors return
run at any point where the belt is properly restrained at
the blade contact point to allow effective cleaning
